So I searched single (bloom type) and red (color) and got 3 results ?

I would like to search all the single, red daylilies older than 1970. How would I do that? There is a field for year of registration, but I don't see the option to search a range of years. Suppose you are looking for a dalily that you think was registered between 1955 and 1961, just for example.

well it gets even weirder. If the only field I fill out is color, red, I then get 4 results! Of course there should be pages! Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I believe it's because RED is the only description? Maybe an expanded search would help.

The individual color button fields do not normally work well when searching daylily colors. Color for daylilies is written in the "color description" box instead. If you go to "search by characteristics" and you type in the year of registration and then type the color into the "Color Description" box the database will return all results with that color for that year. I typed in registration year 1970, checked off single, then typed in red and came up with 75 results. Unfortunately you can't search for a range of years and typing red will bring up all color descriptions that include the word red, including red eyes/edges etc.

Well I am trying to ID a dl that I think is an oldie, but I don't know of course what year so that is why I am trying to search a range of years. I would say that is common for dl and iris. It is a shame that a broader range of years cannot be searched. Basically it is difficult to search anything unless the name is known. That kind of makes the search feature a moot point to a degree.

Far as trying to ID a particular daylily the search feature is limited. Almost impossible. But if you know the details of the plant: height, early or late etc., bloom size, branching, dip or tet, stuff like that you can narrow it down some, still almost impossible. But I do love the search feature for finding plants for my want list, great for that!

It's great for finding something by hybridizer, too.

well many of the heirlooms do not always have those features recorded so its hard to search that way still.

Oh, yeah, my want list has suffered because of the the database LOL
