I'm not an expert either. I was thinking of trying to cross Rilona with Papilio though. No idea if they are compatible or not, just like the little ridges and streaking of Rilona and thought it might be an interesting match for Papilio. My luck, I will get something ugly and brown though. D'Oh! Or nothing at all. Whistling So taking suggestions.

I only have two that I know the ID of:
Papilio
H. striatum

I have others that are NOIDs, one or two which might be seedlings of the others. All in all, though, I probably only have 4 or 5 different varieties at the moment.

@DogsNDaylilies -- I think I have just decided to save my Papilio pollen and try it on everything that blooms this winter. I have 2 Papilio bulbs so maybe I will have enough pollen - assuming both of them bloom for me this winter. Then I can see what takes and what does not. Need to try to make sure I force the Papilios before the other bulbs -- that might end up being the challenge. Well, we shall see. I you want any pollen from any of my others (not the Papilio), let me know.

Thank you for the offer! I'll give it some thought, although more likely than not, I'll simply try it again on mine and I may be adding to my amaryllis collection this fall, although I haven't decided yet. I know I want to, I'm just debating whether or not I should since I have so many bulbs in my original pot to separate and I don't know where I'm going to put all of the pots! (Right now, I have about 3-4 pots of amaryllis, but once I separate out the 1-2 large pots of bulbs, I'll probably have a total of about 15 pots of amaryllis! ...I need to do it though so that I can let them bloom and then label/tag them so I have something of an ID for them. Right now, the pot is still mixed colors.) I need to do a little research on what Papilio *might* pollinate. I know this might sound crazy, but I thought I had read in some obscure article somewhere last year that Papilio cross-pollinates with cybister amaryllis. Have you heard anything about that, too?

No, I have not heard that, but will keep that mind as I read more. Interesting. Thank You!
