Wishing you lots of 'showers' this week, Carol. We also hope some of that precip makes it to the Utah mountains because they are seriously short of snowpack this year, too.
Just to brighten your Easter, my granddaughter seems to be the only one of my offspring interested in gardening. She's happily picking the dandelions out of the lawn.

She is precious!
Yep, even the Rockies are short on snow this year. Seems every place east of the Rockies got the west's share this year. I'm going nursery crawling with a cousin on Wed., looking for draught tolerant plants...and of course our usual lunch date.

It always is fun. We do it a couple of times a year, but she and I are getting older, and with the water issues, we're cutting back on the gardening. We have to fill those bare spots with something though.
We spent a few hours today at our place in Pennsy, opening the house, starting up the water, cleaned up a bit and had a Picnic lunch, which unfortunately had to be inside as it was way too cold and windy outside. We were amazed to see still some remnants of ice on the pond and along the walk way through the woods.
Oh surely!
But normally around this time you would certainly have that road at least lined with flowering Colts Foot! We met up with our two neighbors, (who had kept an eye on our place all these Winter months), both were mentioning that Spring weather starts tomorrow!

Yep, I seriously considered going for a swim after weeding today. But my cleaning lady was here so I would have had to change into a swimsuit, instead of just dropping my clothes and jumping in. Modesty is such a curse.

Roberta, yes, you will see Trout lilies, Trilliums, Epipactis helleborine and a LOT of other interesting wildflowers during the season. Nothing yet, except you will see Wintergreen.
We took a look around the Ramapo mountain state forest this afternoon, checking for emerging Cypripedium acaule. And yes, here they are, together with my very favorite and capable Orchid spotter!
As you can see, not much else is up on that mountain, and I would think the acaule are surely still a couple of weeks away from blooming. (Here around Fair Lawn the trees are blooming like crazy, we have a show this year.)
