I grow Orientals at the back of my daylilys (5-6ft tall) and some Asiatics next to some daylilies. I love how they grow straight up to 3-4 ft, taking only a little horizontal space, and it's a nice show among the daylilies. This fall, I am moving a dividing a bunch of asiatics that had multiplied (pictured in the back), and will plant among all my daylilies in all the gardens.

Your lilies are very pretty. The taller ones do make good background companion plants.

I just love the Asiatic lilies and next to the daylilies, they are a huge favorite of mine. I now have nearly 100 of them growing among the daylilies, and can't wait to see them in the spring. I get many of them from Home Depot, but the bulk of them come from the Amish in Wisconsin where the quality and price just can't be beat. I really love the Tiny Series that came out a few years ago as they multiply so quickly, and have so many flowers that the deer love Sad Sad

Sadly I can't have any Orientals as I am terribly allergic to the scent also. I am always looking for something different and can always find a place to squeeze one more in, lol. One of my new favs is Tropical Breeze. It's such a pretty color and clumps up fast. Next I need to add some martagons and I will be happy.

Our Orientals from last year... They're only a foot tall so far this year.

Those are beautiful, I have buds on a few asiatics now, but they are very drab when they bloom, not colorful like I would love for them to be. Of course I do have others that should bloom later that are more colorful.

I used to have several orientals but they just all eventually disappeared. I have a few orientpets and they are very tall, about 5 feet.

I am adding them and the ducks eat them.So now its just a matter of catching flying ducks and penning then 12 down 12 to go. Blinking

Thought I posted this, but lost it. Maybe it will turn up in another thread Shrug!

A friend turned me on to Casa Blanca lilies and I love their fragrance. I do need to add more true lilies to my garden though.

I had Casa Blanca years ago until one year they just didn't return. I remember how fragrant they were. The fragrance was amazing.

I have had about the same experience. I only have 2 Orientals left. Casa Blanca & Mona Lisa which is a dwarf variety. 2-3 years ago I lost lots of my lily bulbs. I have few OT's & Asiatic. I love lilies but have decided not to spend any more money on them. Just not reliable.

I have one solid Red Asiatic that I have for about 15 years that is the most reliable ever. But, I was not marking them way back then and I have no idea what it is but it still comes up every year. And, the true orange tiger lilies still come up every year.

I have had a few that I have had to remove. I loved African Queen & White Henryi but they were getting so tall that I could no longer make supports for them. They were growing 7-8 feet tall or more! Eudoxia was so vigorous that I was constantly have to dig & divide so I finally got rid of it!

I have a solid bright orange that gets about 4 ft tall, never needs staked and multiplies well, I give it away to anyone who asks. Wish I knew what it was! I will post a picture when it blooms this year.

I have oriental lilies scattered throughout my daylily seedling and breeding beds.
they both bloom around the same time, only drawback is that I can never really tell if any of the seedlings are fragrant as the lily fragrance permeates the entire area.
It's actually the highlight of my day.

Ed, I'm glad you mentioned that you plant them in your seedling area. I hadn't thought about the fragrance possibly masking that of the seedlings. I love the fragrance of the lilies, but I'd rather know if one of my seedlings had any fragrance. So, on to plan B for me! I have lots of room in the seedling bed, but I will not plant lilies in there now. Thanks for saving me some digging!

Oh Boogie Woogie is an OT that smells good but it is another one that grew like a weed for me.
