And the show is beginning!

Phal equestris var leucaspis - not quite this blue in real life daylight, but I love the photo.

Ursula said:Wow, that is fast!

I found out that it closes in the evenings! I didn't know that. It opened again today, but I can tell that it is starting to fade fast. It is like the Paphs. You have to get the pictures and judging in the first fully open day or it is too late. That is good information.

Pretty, Bert. Another of your "First Lady" orchids. Is there pastel lime in the coloration or is it just the light?

Happy Easter to all those who celebrate. I've been singing in the choir for four days in a row and can now hardly talk. Sticking tongue out

I've just been reviewing posts we made back in February, 2010, when we first came over to ATP from DG. Ursula and Kathy were there along with Carol and I. Remember Todd Boland? I wonder what ever happened to him? Lots of others too that have gone off in other directions. Group hug I just looked back on DG and see I first posted in November, 2003. That's a lot of orchids!

You have 5 years on me, Jim. I signed up on DG in 2008. Went to Cubits, at kathy's invitation as soon as Dave started it. We've come a long way in 7 years.
Ken, sounds like you have a few years on me. My first day of retirement was 12/04/2007 and I haven't regretted a minute of it.
AND,I finally got my taxes done today! Hurray!

Jim, funny you should mention perusing the old threads!
It seems we both have been doing the same thing. I started to read the old threads from 2010/ the old cubit threads, and I actually pulled out some old Orchid species pictures of mine and added them to the ATP data base. I will probably do more of that the next few weeks.
Todd Boland was at the time increasingly involved in writing some books and quit posting. Too bad he didn't follow us to ATP, he was very knowledgeable in many different plant groups. He would have lots to contribute.
I retired in March 2007, I was then 62 and my daughter was expecting twins. As much as I had enjoyed my job, I never looked back! Smiling

I finished inventory today. 324 orchids not counting the 3 compots (~25 plants in each).

I have about 20 Dendrobiums that will need repotting, but I think they can wait until next weekend. I'm all repotted out. Thumbs up

I know the feeling, Melissa. I moved only 3-4 dozen orchids out yesterday and have many hundreds left to move. We had heavy thunderstorms move through this morning and I could do nothing. I have to pack up several boxes of orchids, bromeliads, staghorns, and tillandsia, so that takes a lot of my time. Monday and Tuesday are my shipping days. I also have four dozen blooming size orchids to re-pot. There is never enough time! Sighing! Unfortunately, my "season" is just beginning. Whistling

You are way ahead of me. I am still a few weeks away from moving the warm growers outside.
Heh, it is still too cold outside for the cool growers, Klaus mentioned that he still had ice on his windshield at 6:30 this morning, although today was a gorgeous and sunny Spring day with temps into the sixties F.

Beautiful marks on that one, Kate. There are just so many Phals out there now, very unlikely to pin a name on it.
