Easy to grow, plenty to share. Ornamental Sweet Potatoes (OSP) just take a little fall planning and you will be ready to grow your own come spring.

I live in south Florida. I put my rooted slips out a few weeks ago and one whole one in a pot, just to see what that will do. White potatoes also. Just started getting beautiful purple flowers. I've never done sweet potatoes before. Read that organic ones do best because the others are treated to prevent sprouting. Mine rooted and sprouted anyhow. So I'll see if I get any potatoes.

Ric, purchased Sweet Potato slips last year for our crop and they grew very nicely. He saved a few potatoes in hope of growing his own slips this year but unfortunately his potatoes didn't cooperate. Potato plants do put out some very pretty flowers. The flowers on the OSP were a surprise when I first started growing them and they were like a smaller version of a morning glory. Much different than the flowers from the eating potatoes we grew in the garden.
