They are very happy Muggles. Lots of blooms at once! And Greg it was all your shots of Muggles in your bloom thread last year that sold me on them, so thanks again for sending them my way!!

I think Sterling was genius in this name for this plant. It is very prolific; and in the magical world of Harry Potter, Muggles are also very prolific!

He is a bit harder to find!

I have them side by side in my garden too. I moved both last year. Dumbledore is not as happy. He may need more time to get acclimated.

Dumbledore

A few pictures from the database to remind the "Muggles" what "Dumbledore" looks like (if they can see him!)

I have Dumbledore and if he increases I will swap you a D for a Muggles, Leslie. Lol Now with Snitch, Dumbledore, Muggles and assorted dragons, witches and wizards I will need a bed designated Hog Warts.

It's a deal Bonnie. I have a lot of Muggles already. Fast grower. I have Grindelwald (still think this is named for the wizard who was a friend of Dumbledore's and who Dumbledore got the Hallows wand from) about to bloom, don't have Snitch or the TB Golden Snitch, but all in good time. I am surprised no one named an iris Hermione.

Greg - you you think the color difference is from the soil?

Yes as the soil difference. Mine has been depleted as well. This was one of the things I learned when Rick Tasco and Roger Duncan were in my yard. I need to replenish the soil of it's nutriants. I plan to be doing a major overhaul and adding new and super rich dirt to the beds. The other thing is that my pictures were in a shading area which may not have helped.

Still; the yellow on your "falls" is wonderful!

Yes, the Muggles are a very rich yellow. The first day 5 opened all together, and it was such a pretty display. They stand out in a garden.

And I agree about Golden Snitch Bonnie, but it has to get a bit less expensive before it gets to my garden! Maybe next year.....

All this talk about color reminds me. I have been trying a couple of days now to capture the true color of three other SDB's that have opened. So for those, waiting on the rest of the Guise picks, I want you to know that it is tricky to capture how amazing the color combination is on that iris.

The eye is so different from a camera lens. I guess if you had the right camera and the right light.... but the eye can see so much that a camera just cannot capture.

That seems especially true of blues and greens in iris!

Today I am going to give you pictures of the subtle beauty of Inner Space (Tasco). I love the blend of grey, blue and lavendar, and how it plays in the light. Hard to transfer all of it's personality to film, but here goes (couldn't leave it at one or two pics - sorry):
