A friend in AR has these growing in her yard and would like an ID if possible.

They look like cherries, or something in the same genus (Prunus).

They remind me of Cherry Laurel except the leaves are not shiny.

I agree they look like a type of Cherry Laurel. If it were me...I would advise ripping out each and every one of the seedlings before they can take over the entire yard and garden. A single specimen tree is pretty to look at, but the tree is never satisfied to be alone and keeps dropping seeds everywhere.

Looks like Prunus seedlings to me too. I believe these two are found in AR:

Wild Black Cherry (Prunus serotina)

Wild Plum (Prunus americana)

I will tell her. She has a bunch, which is never good, IMHO.

As porkpal suggested, it could well be Carolina Laurel Cherry (Prunus caroliniana) if they grow in that area of the country. A neighbor at our old house had a few old, mature trees and seedlings were always popping up everywhere.

She is going to have a look around her neighborhood when she gets home tonight. I agree with the ID.

Thank you all so much!
