Peonies forum: peony Double Red or generic name

ordered since it was on clearance for $6.50 along with few other plants since they also don't have far to go either.
But the name Double Red did not turn up anywhere so I am thinking its a generic name for all there extra/lost tag double red peonies.

I think that you are thinking correctly.

I have experienced similar curious naming with daylilies and lilies from Gilbert.

e.g. i have a Lily called Big Yellow.

who knows, you might be able to ID the peony after it blooms.

I have seen the same thing from some of the major mail order companies. Especially in their "collections". That is better than attaching a name to the peony then having it turn out to be something completely different. Noid is a famous name in all plants.
