Ticker - in your group above, what is the tiny hosta?
Great pics all around.

I miss having a kitty to help with gardening. DH said no more when the last one died. The things that do damage in my garden are the squirrels - especially under my oak tree.

Here is a panoramic view of what our yard looked like in July 2009. I added about a dozen more hostas in 2009 after this picture was taken! I am almost finished with the area behind the garage, though I'll let that sit out this season before I plant hostas there in 2011.

Hi Everyone! I am new to this forum. Most of my 200 hostas are in pots and 2 large plastic swimming pools. Here is a picture of one of the swimming pools.
Thats Climax to the left, Carnival on the right, Captain Kirk in the back, Touch of Class in the front and Unforgettable center. I must thin out and rearrange this year. I am in the process of building some raised area for Hosta this year.

I'd love a "pot shot" Rolling on the floor laughing to show how you use them in pots. Nice hostas is the pic you just showed! Are they Permanently in the pools?

Most will get planted around the yard. The ones in the swimming pool will stay there, but I will thin them out.

How old is your 'Patriot'? Mine is a great deal smaller than my Paul's Glory.

This is the best pic I have of them from last season - quite early in June. 'Paul's Glory' was purchased new in 2004. 'Patriot' came as a nice division from Sandy in 2006.

The hosta closest to the camera is 'September sun'.

Also seen in this pic - 'Fujibotan' to the left, 'Diana Remembered' behind 'Paul's Glory', 'Invincible' to the right of DR and a small 'Remember Me' behind 'Patriot'.

Ann,

I got both of them in 2007. Patriot came from LuAnn [RatherBDigging] so i'm sure it came from a mature plant.

Such beautiful hosta pictures. I only planted in one area because I thought they could only do well in shade. Do any of these hosta gardens get much sun. I would love to have more if they could successfully be grown in the sun.

Many hostas like quite a bit of light and I have a corner that I've moved any number of hostas away from because they were not doing well in the darkness. This is particularly true if it is morning light.

Google "sun-tolerant hostas" and you'll find a number of lists or ask us about certain varieties and we'll share our experiences with them.

What the hostas like are cool roots. Mulch them and see if they do OK in a sunnier area.
