Zanymuse posted links to a couple of sites back on the first page of this thread. Not sure if these are what you were thinking of, but here's a link to that post: http://garden.org/thread/view_...

Google+ search yields a few. I saw some elaborate head planter on one of the G+ flower communities the other day and thought of this thread, I'll see if I can't find them again.

Such neat planters. Thumbs up Someone asked earlier in the thread if certain of the planter were stable. We had some small resin statues that kept getting knocked over and breaking stems on plants. I went by one of the flooring stores and asked about broken tiles. I got a small box of chipped/cracked tiles for $3. I used Liquid Nails to adhere the statue to a tile and after it set, slipped the tile and statue back in among the plants and covered the tile with a little soil and mulch. For the larger concrete head planters the Liquid Nails could be used to create a wider base or a heavier base by using tiles or even bricks in the same way.

That is a great idea Jean. I have a couple that I would like to put out in the borders, but worried about them not be stable. This would certainly do the trick, and I have large square tiles in the garage. Hurray!
Thank you.

You are most welcome, Lynn. If you containers have drainage holes in the center of the bottom, just leave a gap between the tiles, or you can stack a couple tiles to elevate the container for drainage.

I finally got around to doing the Magnetic Poetry Stone Faces, Greek God kit that I got from Amazon last year it is curing in the garage for several days. I hope it looks good when I unmold it, doing the kit was easier than I expected.

@Zanymuse Brenda, it worked pretty good my DH helped me pack the concrete into it when we unmolded it a few days later there were some small holes some places on the face which to me makes it look like it is very old. I planted it up with what I had on hand, next year I will use something else to give it more character. The kit had terracotta colorant I am thinking as it ages it will be more appealing to me right now it seems plenty bright.

@daylilydreams One of the ways to make planters look aged and timeless is with a little fresh moss and yogurt, buttermilk or beer.
