Here's a sleeping head that I discovered at the Oregon Botanical Garden. It was my first visit having just moved to Oregon. It looks more like a face pot but maybe the plant is growing out of a hole in its head?

Lynn, I found the head in your favorite section, the conifer garden. It was the most interesting well put together garden throughout the park. I was looking for the guy on the ladder that you mentioned... Sighing!

I am delighted that Bev is going to share her adventures in "wonderland" (Oregonderland.) I just know she is going to find some more things to delight us. Hilarious!
Seriously I look forward to more pictures Hurray!

I cleaned my patio of the debris from the trees for the 5th time since April. Why does it keep spitting bits of wood and seeds this late into the year? I shifted all the pots from the front to the back .. now to decide what to keep.

I am going to confess again to being very unhappy as I don't think any semps survived in my pots.
Perhaps Semps are not going to work in my micro climate. Sad Sad

The shade has gotten even thicker so very few rays of sun sneak through. It is time to move the babies to a toddler nursery but where?
Sighing! Sighing! Sighing!

Marilyn, it really may be that you just don't have enough sun for semps to stay healthy.
But look at all the beautiful sedum you can grow. Lets start thinking of other plants that would do well in your specific growing conditions. Hurray!

I should know soon if any sedums survived but right now it does not look good. Maybe next year, if I clear off the front area, I can put in sedums with other shade loving plants and have some to enjoy.
Thanks for helping.

I am sorry to hear of your loss of semps, Marilyn. I've been enamored of semps since the mid 90's and I would cry up a storm if I lost all mine. I think Lynn's approach to try other less sun-needy plants would be a good one. I have found other plants that have the rosette shape of semps so they might be an alternative to look into? Would be interesting to find out if they need as much sun as semps do? Some might not...

This is a Draba:

These are Orostachys:

This is supposed to be a sedum:

Thanks Bev, Just thought I would toss it out there for a couple of days. *Blush* I think most of us were probably all cute little kids. I bet a lot of moms gave their little girls a similar do, in the forties.

My favorite of yours is the Silhouette portrait Jim did of you. Did you ever show us a little you?

I have tried sedum, draba, Orostachys and others... was told the area is getting too much water from over spray by the HOA sprinkler system. Even the patio gets hit with it. The only plant that seems to love it is the ajuga. I guess I could just let it spread over everything. I am going to work with the sprinkler people, I am appealing to them to cut it back but.......... My next try is shhhhhh .... Hosta... Whistling

My little bitty semps will go into the only 2x2 spot of sun on the patio. Today I need to pot them up.
Wish me luck. I love my babies. Lovey dubby

I just found this on Amazon Magnetic Poetry Stone Faces, Greek God kit. I ordered one right away looks like there is just one left. I think this will be a fun way to experiment without paying a lot. You use a six inch clay pot with the face.

I have one of those, just haven't had a chance to try it yet. The mold is a pretty good size, but you'll probably have to get creative to attach it to a decent size pot. You were lucky; when I looked to see if any more were available (because I was going to suggest it), they were all gone. Smiling

Seeing as I couldn't buy one I decided to make my own . Looking for inspiration I spotted this lady in the back yard . Actually I'm not sure if it's boy or girl . Anyway I made a cast and all will be revealed tomorrow.

What did you use to create the mold? Is it something you'll be able to use again? Looks good so far! Can't wait to see the finished product!
