My 'Pandora's Box' has less green on it than some I've seen and it's a slow grower. The slugs also like it.

Is "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" really a mini? I'm not really sure. The leaves may be a bit too large.

I was surprised to find 'Surprised By Joy' on the list of minis. Mine took several years to get established but looked good last year.

'Teaspoon' if indeed it is a mini. I'm not sure - would have to look at the AHS list. It does NOT make a small clump apparently, but is a fast grower.

I'm not sure that 'Tick Tock' qualifies as a mini, but it IS small. Also a fast grower and a solid clump. When I divided mine last year I sawed apart the entire clump and planted several sections together hoping that it will be easier to divide next time.

Finally, 'X-Rated' which is quite enthusiastic a grower for a white-centred plant.

I love these minis SO much! Drooling

I've had 'Cameo' on my list for a while. Every picture I see of it is stunning. It's sold out in a lot of places, but I'm hoping I can get it at the Land of the Giants (ironic name, since I'm going there looking for a mini!) driveway sale on Memorial Day weekend. They do have it listed for sale right now.

Going to have to add 'Mighty Mouse' and 'Cat and Mouse' to the list. And 'Lakeside Elfin Fire," and... Rolling my eyes.
Check out Petiole Junction, my garden blog! (I'd love your comments.)

Ok, I think I just answered my own question. I went to the AHS web page and this is the guidelines they use to classify hostas according to size.

Table of Relative Hosta Size

Hosta Size Leaves Mature Plant

Dwarf <2.0 sq. in. <4" tall

Miniature 2.0 to 6.0 sq. in. 4" to 6" tall

Small 6.0 to 25 sq. in. 6" to 10" tall

Medium 25 to 81 sq. in. 10" to 18" tall

Large 81 to 144 sq. in. 18" to 28" tall

Giant >144 sq. in. >28" tall

Karen, I've had 'Cat and Mouse' for two seasons and I really like it - probably my favorite mini or small or whatever size it will be classified as. I bought 'Mighty Mouse' at a sale a few weeks ago and like that one as well, it is the most eye-catching mouse in my rattery Hilarious!

Elizabeth - have you had any difficulty with your 'Cat and Mouse' reverting? My first one did and was replaced. The replacement has two eyes this year, but one of those eyes also seems to have reverted. I'm watching it for awhile though.

Ann, my 'Cat and Mouse' seems to be a picture-perfect example. It is two decent sized eyes with very nice coloration. However my 'Holy Mouse Ears' got smaller two years in a row, it is one really puny eye this year and I bought a new one.
