I think I'll keep the flats of liners in the unheated greenhouse for the winter.
I'll never get everything in the ground - lol. Way too many. I did keep a few pots in there last year. I put a few daffodil bulbs in the pots to deter the voles too.

I have it. Nice hosta with spectacular, lightly fragrant blooms. The leaves on mine DO have a tendency to get torn.

Well Diana, I think you need it just because of the name.

I have Diana Remembered. Is that the same one you're speaking of? If so, I like it. I had read the margins were white, Mine is a creamy yellow. Lovely. The flowers are nicely scented, not hugely. It's vigorous, and the leaves have some shine to them.

Nice of your daughter to get that for you!

Yes, it's Diana Remembered. Right now the margins are white. Should I make sure it doesn't get much sun? I have to keep White Christmas in total shade or it's not happy, but it does have lots more white on it.

Nice pictures Ann. Glad to see it has white flowers. From your pictures it looks like it spreads out but doesn't get too tall.

It grows fairly quickly. I divided out a couple big divisions from mine spring 2009 and I bet next year you won't even know it. It's not overly low - I don't think of it as a flat mound - probably similar to the Invincible which is next to it. Mine is north of an oak tree but gets some morning sun. My White Christmas is south of the same oak tree and gets morning sun as well and usually does really well. But this year the earwigs (definitely NOT slugs) made mincemeat of it.

look at what I found in the hosta bed today...

never seen it before.

its in front of Queen Jo and next to Ginko Craig.

I do not have any 'pie crusty' hostas .... have no idea who 'the parents' are...

but -- what a cutie.

as i browsed the bed today... i found a few 'babies' that obviously came from seeds. this was the best of them all. Thumb of 2011-05-10/tcs1366/2eb584

Really like that "newbie," Terese!

Here are a few I just planted on Mother's Day. A nice present to myself! (Well, hubby actually bought some of them and my son helped with digging the new bed.)

This is 'Queen of the Seas'

'Thunderbolt'

'Peanut,' which looks to have a green eye that I'll have to cut out. (Hubby picked out this one. It's a long story.)

'Geisha'

Well, my hubby actually loves the big hostas, too. The bigger the better. He wanted 'Komodo Dragon' the minute I told him it was a big sucker. And my huge auction win from last year, a mature 'Sagae,' is his favorite hosta so far. But...

We both wanted 'Peanut,' because it's our nickname for our daughter. So we were scouring the nursery looking for it, and my husband was the one to find it. He counted eyes, picked out what looked like a nice one, and from a distance I said, "Yep, that looks good!" But when we got to the checkout, on closer inspection, the hosta he'd grabbed was a 'Teeny Weeny Bikini' that had gotten mixed in with 'Peanut.' So he and the cashier went back to correct the mistake and get the right hosta. When he did, he counted eyes and looked for a nice full plant. (He's getting good at that!) What he didn't know to look for was irregular color. I didn't notice that 'Peanut' was sporting green until I got home and planted it.

I suppose I'll cut the green out of it to prevent the plant reverting. But, as the folks at Hallson's pointed out, if I cut out the green and plant that...then I'll also have 'Goober.' Sticking tongue out
