Mark, you live in Seattle. How do you get ice plants to thrive in the ground in your location? Here on the east coast, we get too much rain. Confused Do I need to plant them in rocks, so that they don't rot on me? I love them, but I can't get them to survive. Sighing!

Mark I really like your box idea. Nice group of succulents you have going there. The cactus on top is going to make a beautiful topper.

that is a drainage bit for my roof it is a foot of gravel deep with bricks on top for walk with gravel between bricks, no soil. they seem to like it. i also have problems with ice plants dying on me and this is only second year for them so we will see. around here i have seen them thrive under evergreen shrubs and trees that block large amounts of rain. like old cedars and stuff right around the roots. also they seem to do better as cuttings rather then plugs. i like to let them overgrow there origional containers then make a bunch of 2-6 inch cuttings let dry for a night then plant. they seem to like plastic pots. good luck!

I tip my hat to you.

I tip my hat to you. for sharing your methods. I found some of the common purple one on sale and decided to experiment again. Mine are in pots in a rocky mixture. I'm going to make a rock garden somewhere. I just haven't decided the best place yet, but you've given some great ideas. Thumbs up
