This is a lovely wildflower/lawn weed that comes up from bulbs in spring.

Here is a stand just about to open:

Here is an adjacent stand just opening, in some chickweed:

Here is a single flower fully open:

In mown lawns these bloom close to the ground and look like sprinkled stars. I hope to learn their name. Thanks!

Close.... Some of the forms are slightly different and I am not sure. Also the way the foliage emerges from the bulbs looks different than what I have pulled out. The petals are sharper, in the false garlic....

That all may just be variability in how it's photographed and where it grows. I'd like to see if there are other contenders. I'll also go pull some up and take a picture; I think the differences show there best unless I am remembering wrong.

Don't know if this is the same thing, but I call them star lilies.

An Ornithogalum perhaps, maybe Scilla bifolia?
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

Yes! Star of Bethlehem it is. Notice the distinctive buds with dark green and the white line of the emerging petals.

And I was calling them star flowers, so we're on the same page.

Have to look at that Scilla bifolia and see... But that doesn't quite look the same, so I think this is done.

Thanks everyone!

Thank You! It was in my mind from a recent conversation with someone who also had it as a lawn weed, so that rang a bell.
