Thank you so much everyone who are bringing plants for me.

jqsen, I will bring the plants for you mentioned. Thanks for the yellow orange lilies they would be great.

Windigo - I would love to try Huskers Red Penstemon, Monarda Red Wine. Thanks a lot.

Linnea - I would love to try day Lilly Orchids and Antique Lace, Yellow with lemon and chicago royal if you still have extras. Thank you so much

If anyone has shasta daisy, montauk daisy or similar would love to have some. I had many monardas, rudbeckia and shasta daisy but not sure why they all disappeared. A landscaper lives next door not sure if he is the culprit. Sad

Windigo, I'm glad you're planning to come!

Linnea, if you have any more of the Orchids and Lace I'd love a little.

Jasmine I can bring a montauk daisy for you and probably some shasta. Rudbeckia hirta is a short-lived perennial but you should have lots of babies, I get a lot. Monarda disappearing is pretty odd, it comes back in the same spot every time I try to move it!

Annette, thank you so much for the daisies. I had red and wine monarda but they are gone. About Rudbeckia I had garden full of them and they were every where in the garden. I had 2-3 types of them. They returned every year previously but from past 2-3 years I started seeing fewer and fewer and last year I had only 2-3 small seedlings.

Linnea, I am on a huge hunt for daylilies that do not have yellow tint to it- my color theme is pink lavender purple. If Chicago Royal is close to it I would love some.
I just started potted some things up today. Will check for jack in pulpit seedlings and anemones for you. I should have plenty of geranium phaeum and seedlings of ger wlassovianum should be somewhere. Also if anyone interested in small bulbs- pushinkinia, winter aconitum and chionodoxa I could dig some up. This is euphorbia which I love- it does spread but I remove some every spring it is very controllable for me

Ellen, I would definitely love some of chionodoxa. They look so pretty. May I know the flower colors?

Linnea, I have dug up small seedlings of Edible Asparagus (Mary washington) and repotted it and they look ok so far.

I'm so excited about giving and getting everything!

Oh boy, this thing is in ONE WEEK! I need to dig more plants.

All new requests have been noted. Still no signs of life on the zebra grass :(

GoNative, thanks for the ruellia, I have been wanting it a long time!
If I can also get a Dutchman's Pipe vine and some Allium, that would be great.

OErickson, if you have any more winter aconitum I would love some.

DonnaM, may I also have some of your hosta with the green edge and cream in the middle?
And I just found some little echinaceas growing next to the driveway, they're yours! They're 99.9% likely going to be pinky purple, I have a few typical echinaceas and just a couple more unusual or white ones.

Jasmine, I didn't have you down for rudbeckias but it looks like you need some, so I put you on that list Smiling

I have a question that I hope you don't mind that I am posting. I love plant swaps but I live in southern KY. Could someone tell me when the best time to visit Chicago's Botanical Garden to see their daylily collection in bloom? Thank you!

Hi Bluegrassmom:

I don't really know the best time for the daylilies at CBG, but I can at least tell you that none of my daylilies have any buds yet, so it's not very soon. CBG is close to Lake Michigan, as am I, so I think we're similarly affected by the "lake effect." I don't grow very many daylilies so I don't even keep track of when they bloom! Does anyone else here know daylily time? Perhaps the garden itself can tell you the best time in general, although I'm sure it varies some every year. Would you need to organize your trip well in advance, or could you do it with a week's notice?

Thanks for the reply. My DH has a family reunion on June 19/20th about half way up IN. I am think that would be to early for the dls to be out to continue a trip. I may try calling or email the garden. Thanks

Bluegrassmom, I LOVE CBG so I hope you manage a trip there sometime. (and I've been disappointed by a couple of supposed grand gardens so please trust me) Be aware that it's so large and lovely you will want as much of the day there as you can get. You would probably be so sad if you got there and realized you could only spend 4 hours. Or 6. (unless you're just about the daylilies, and nothing else. But I have a feeling you might like gardens!)

If you do drive in, try to hit the south edge of the city around 9:30 am or a little later and you should be able to get up to Highland Park easily (although you never know when crazy traffic will happen). Then spend the rest of the day there and stay in a hotel near there. There's a wonderful music festival park called Ravinia that is just a mile or two away, you could even try to coordinate an evening concert with your visit (although you may be quite drained by the garden delights)

I'm going to CBG when I visit my son later this month. Last time I visited , in August,I could only spend a few hours. This place is massive!

Thanks for the help. One of my hobbies is visiting botanical garden when traveling. I have heard it was HUGE. I love plants of all types, but daylilies are a favorite.

To the group- my chemical experiments for foliar sprays royally failed, my tomatoes are looking like c!@#p... I am biological gardener so I do not use harsh chemicals but even humic acid is still acid and sea minerals are salts. Am still investigating exact causes but will be bringing very few tomatoes to the swap. Just in case if anyone has extras letting you know.
