My house came with several large clumps of lancifolia, and I'm removing them to make room for more lovelies. Anyone into species hostas want a large clump or two (or three, or...)? I'll gladly mail for the cost of shipping.

When people offer them to me locally, I break/cut the clumps into smller chunks and take them into work (with extra sacks). There are always new homeowners who can use them. They are also good to have when you do a sale (for those people who come in and say that your plants are "expensive" cause they don't know about hosta).

I noticed a lady here in town who has a big sign in her yard that says "HOSTA SALE!" I was going to stop until I realized that her yard seemed to be entirely filled with nothing but Undulata albomarginata. And yet, she had several customers, and seems to have had a steady flow of people all week. I wonder what she's charging?

At any rate, I think I'll probably divide up my clump into some plastic bags and set them outside on a table at the end of the driveway for, what?...maybe $2 a bag? Actually, I'm tempted to just give them away, but if people are willing to buy them, who knows? Maybe I'll be able to get enough for a new hosta out of it. ;)

Karen --- last summer when driving thru Baraboo, a guy was diggin hostas and had them in 'grocery type' bags out near his driveway... sign saying $2. I think they were Albo too.

There is another house a few blocks from there -- on the way to the Mexican Restaurant ... their whole yard is filled with Hostas... I want to stop in one day and ask if they ever divide.

we went past in April and the other side of the yard and front of the house was filled with Daffs and Tulips.

My Neighbor has a Hosta plant sale and sells all Undulata albomarginata -- she had them with 2-4 eyes and marked at $4.00... I am like you... I'd give them away -- that is actually how I got started in Hosta's....

A friend was splitting some up....Undulata albomarginata... she had 10 HUGE one's (hadn't been split for 5-7 years -- she couldn't remember) so she kept 2 to divide and replant and gave me 8 HUGE hosta. I was in heaven... Drooling ... the kids dug holes all around the front yard (it is completely shaded and I was needing an excuse not to mow it) -- 32 holes to be exact... Blinking
I divided the 8 hosta's into quarters and planted 32 hosta's.... thus began the obsession. I have since expanded to take over about 60% of the front yard, west side of the house, around the pump house and shed, by the pole shed and down by the barn -- LOL!!!! Whistling

Kayly, Do you still have some lancifolia for postage? I will take some to fill a bare spot in my front yard where grass will not grow. Terese I finally see your pretty face. You are a good friend dear. I haven't been on here much with so much going on but will try more often. BEV

Bev, I do have some, yes. I have quite a large clump that I could split up and ship bare root if you'd like it. Let me know. Smiling

Bev, don't post your personal address on this forum, it is open to everyone. You should c-mail your address to Karen (just like a d-mail on DG). At the top of the page when you are signed in there is the word "mail" - just click on that to start the process.

Edited for spelling.
