Helm??? **Help

Bought this great Azalea about 7 years ago at a road side plant stand. At the time it was only 18 inches tall. Now it stands nearly 6 feet! Also at the time I wasn't really into gardening like I am now so I didn't know any better to save the plant I.D. tag. Anyone know what variety it might be? If its any help it puts off a VERY strong skunk cabbage odor this time of year. ive heard some say it smells more like marijuana... Pic was taken earlier this afternoon. Of course its raining now so it'll probably turn into one giant flop by the time its done...!

I know nothing at all about azaleas except they are beautiful. I do know yours is beautiful. I hope the rain doesn't spoil it.

Hi Jason.

A few questions for you.
Is your plant deciduous or evergreen?

Does it stay outside year round?

When did it start blooming? (different varieties bloom at different times)

Since monitors/cameras vary, what color is it? (pink, coral, orange?)

Have you pruned it, or is that the natural growth habit?

Could you get a close-up of one of the flowers and some reference for size of the flower?

and if all else fails, have you given these folks a shout? They are in Federal Way, WA. just a little north of Tacoma.

Moonhowl -

*deciduous.
*yes, its an outside year round plant.
*started blooming 10 days ago. give or take.
*once the flowers open to their full size, they are pastel orange.
*natural growth habit.
*i'll post a close up of a fully open flower once they're completely open.

thanks! i'll check out the link.

Needrain- Thank you! the flowers haven't opened all the way yet, I think that's what saved it last night. but theres more rain in the forecast. it happens every year. and every year it breaks our heart to see the entire thing flopped over on itself.

I hope the link is of use, Jason.

I was thinking that it may be one of the Knap Hill (Exbury) hybrids. This link has a fine list of them with pictures, including 'Mandarin Lights' as Lin suggested.
