Hi, Polly. Our rose cubit will stay in Cubits, at least for now, but Sue and I will copy some of the more salient posts (pruning advice, etc.) to this site this weekend and we'll post a few new rose parades just to give people lots of pretty pictures to see right from the start.

Thanks for a great idea! I will look for some threads I can do likewise on irises and lilies.

The clematis cubit is coming over here in its entirety, except for the database, which will remain in cubits. Sue and I will be the moderators of that one too.

Tabby, that is one beautiful seedling! When I enlarge the photo, it looks like the pattern in the stamens is repeated throughout the petals! WOW! And incredible color to boot! Is it your own seedling?

Sharon, I'm thinking I might hijack my DH's laptop and his monitor. I sure hope I can keep up with all of this. I think things are going to get crazy busy in a hurry.

Tabby I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to roses. I just know I like them. The spots on the petals of the seedling, are they a trait of that rose, or water spots. I find them beautiful.

Lynn - noticed that no one told you your rose. Looks like George Burns to me. Thorny? If so, definitely GB.

What a nice day to be here for the first time. My new rose 'Morning Mist' opened its first two flowers today. I love the colour, form and habit and it has a wonderful scent!

Yes, it's my own seedling. It gets its spots from its parent, Alain Blanchard. I have a bunch of seedlings from Alain Blanchard, some more spotty than others.

Thank you so much Toni. That makes three people now that say it is George Burns. And yes, it is very thorny, I have to suit up to prune it.

Sue your Morning Mist is lovely in both color and form. What is the scent like?

Tabby how does some one find a rose like that, with the beautiful spots?

The only spotted rose I know of is Alain Blanchard, which is an Old Garden Rose, a once blooming gallica. You can find it in catalogs of these Old Garden or Heirloom Roses.

I'm happy to find the new place where I can see everyone's roses. This year I am really going to try to propagate the ones that are allowed.
