Hello all, enjoying the iris pictures!

The last couple years I have received several dwarf iris for our school garden. Sometimes they were just one rhizome and it has taken a year or two to bloom. I lost tags on three. I would most likely recognize the name (if they were correctly named when I got Them) so please post any possibilities. Your help is appreciated. Thumbs up

Lisa

It does look like cat's eye! I have cat's eye elsewhere in the school garden that is not blooming yet. Maybe it was another piece of it or a mislabeled one.

Looks a whole lot like my Cat's Eye! Is is a fast grower? Cat's Eye is know to clump quickly.

Wow! You guys are great! I think one did have autumn in the name! Thumbs up

I will put a tentative name tag with it. Going to look back a couple years ago in my tree mail and see if I can find any names.

Yes, fast growing. The cats eye on the other side of the garden is about 30 fans but no blooms. This one has about 15 but only one bloom on it.

Thirty fans??? That's a lot -- is it possible that your rhizomes are overgrown and crowded? That would account for the non-blooming.........

True. Over fertilizing can increase fan growth and decrease bloom too, but if they are crowded, then separate the increases and see how it goes. It is a fast grower. After two years mine really needs to be separated this year.

also, if they are too shady they will not produce blooms but the foliage usually still looks nice.

Thanks! They may get a little too much shade as sun does not reach that part of the garden until afternoon. Ones blooming are on southern side of school grounds.

The iris needs about 6 to 8 hours of sunlight exposure. Anything beyond is gravy. As you get less, their performance and growing habits fall off.
