I'm sure we will get real rain sometime over the next week! Yes, rain chances spread over every single day! Today, however, it dried up a bit by afternoon and we had sunshine...I put some overripe banana outside and butterflies flocked to it! Unfortunately flies did, also.

It looked like that huge storm/tornado was heading towards us, but it stayed south and it didn't even rain. Hope the rest of the night is uneventful.

@canadanna Today's storm looks like it's pounding you up there! We are on the tail end and just might escape the rain and hail. We've just had a couple of minutes of rain with drops about the size of apples, and then it was over.

When we were going through the drought, I said that I would never complain about the rain again. I think I lied. It's starting to get a little annoying.

I said the same thing, Jay! We're still technically listed in moderate drought here. Although it's pretty nice and green, we haven't had the big and long rains that some other areas have. We'll see when the new drought map comes out next week. Hopefully, in my lifetime this drought will be over here.

Those weathermen on TV in San Antonio are repeating a litany of excuses why no rain, even though the percents for rain they were giving had been high enough people should have had rain over the weekend and yesterday. There is now finally a little drip going on now...we will see if it turns into rain!

We're getting lots of spotty light rains here in the North Houston area. I am def going to install rain barrels this year! Everything is green and lush for now. What might happen late in the summer always scares me cuz you just never know. I need to save this water.

Blub, blub, blub, we are getting a little moldy here from the rain. At least there's no lightning to deal with (yet). We worked in the garage today since it was too wet to get outside. For the third time, we filled the truck with "stuff" for donation. DD helped me last week get the pot farm cleared from the side yard. I believe she thinks we might die soon and leave her, the only child, with 45 years of stuff to get rid of! Rolling my eyes.
With very little sun, not much is blooming for the month of May.

I have a room and 1/2 garage filled with potential yard sale items. I know I should just donate because it is way too overwhelming to sort. That would probably be the best gift to give my childen

I think we are starting to mold here also. I am beginning to worry about all my succulents being soggy for this long. They are forecasting rain chances for the next possibly 14 days.
We have broken a record on May rain and last night I had to put on my warm fuzzy pants to keep warm. I think that is a first for may 12th. I really dread all the mosquitos and flies that will come out whenever the sun decides to.

I thought San Antonio had gotten lots of rain. There where times on the radar that looked like S.A. was getting slammed.

@canadanna those flowers did brighten my day! Thanks! DD came again this morning and worked me like a dog! We had so much more to donate that the boxes are in the kitchen until it dries out enough to put the boxes from today in the back of the truck. It poured while we were opening stored boxes. Had to finally close the garage door. Had tornado warnings, but we only had wind and a little thunder with the rain.
All the garden supplies and tools are in a few crates to move to the back for summer. I forgot I had quite a bit of it ( and had already replaced some). Letting go of "stuff" is liberating. I know I wouldn't have gone through all that stuff unless pushed a little.

@Esperanza I hope your succulents are going to alright. Can you lift them from the pots, or are there too many?
I think this rain started the night of April 18th. We were at a neighbor's party and we were all complaining about how little rain we had. That night it really came down and it has been raining since then! Be careful what you wish for, I guess!

@canadanna , the weather guy tonight said Lake Travis had only come up a foot nice the first of May. Hard to believe, but since so much of the area is limestone, maybe it leaches into the rock until it's saturated. So, I guess we're still in drought phase.

Lots of flooding in that area. It floods in Austin, but it quickly runs off into the creeks. In Houston area, the water seems to stay around a lot longer.

Houston is flat and has water-proof clay soil. It was intended to be a swamp, I'm sure. I cannot even imagine what it must have been like before storm sewers and pavement! More rain is currently falling. I am glad to be on a sandy high spot; it is plenty wet enough!
