Dratted storms! I love rain, but the rest of it......That's just too close. Do you have a generator? We were without power for three plus days and I'm still amazed we got it back on when they did after seeing the extent of the damage.

The oaks make it sound like a tornado and I heard on the news Jacksonville was under threat of one. I have a few down in the pasture from a couple of weeks ago, but nothing like I see across the fence. Glad you are all safe.

Stay safe Cheryl. This is such a nasty system. Keep on a live weather station if you can. I just now learned about what went over us on Sat. I wasn't paying attention to the live feed and didn't know to be scared. No wonder I got so many texts Sunday morning asking if we were alright Sighing!

It's here now. Pouring rain and blowing like the dickens, interrupting the satellite and my Rockets game. I just moved the car. We have a place on the driveway where we move it to hoping if the neighbor's trees come down our direction, the house and gate will help shield the car. If we lose our own trees, the car will be away from the back yard where they are. Learn by doing, right? During H. Ike, we moved the car to it's safe, protected position. A large tree branch so big blew across the driveway and landed where the car usually is parked. Before landing, it rammed into the garage door. Had to replace that but the car was unscathed. Mom nature can be so cruel at times! Be careful Everyone!!

Damage reports from all around Jacksonville. A tremendous amount of property damage and schools are closed for tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the morning so I can get an accurate picture of the damage. For now I just hope my fences are intact and cows where they're supposed to be.

The radar shows very intense storms about 15 miles from me, but when I went outside it is completely calm. Very warm with no wind at all. I'm sure that will be changing very soon.

It isn't calm here! It's been storming for the past hour. My big EE in the pond, that one that has been standing upright for 3 years has fallen over. There is too much lightening out there for me to go check on it.

We've had 5" of rain in 3 hours. They say bayous are over flowing. Radar doesn't show it lifting anytime soon. The Rockets won their game and they worry about the 1,000's of fans leaving Toyota Center in downtown Houston into the flooded streets.

I definitely would not want to be fighting traffic in Houston right now.

Ha! IMHO, there's no good time to fight Houston traffic, but yeah, some times are especially bad! It's a shame this system hasn't worn itself out! Hope the livestock are okay, Dave!

Hwy I-10 going West of Houston is down to 2 lanes and it is bumper to bumper traffic due to White Oak Bayou flooding , going from 8 ft to 35 feet in 3 hours! It is almost 1 am here. People are still in the Toyota (Basketball) Center waiting it out. People are in stalled vehicles or waiting it out in parking lots all over the city. They say it will be over in a couple of hours. But it is a mess out there! I hate to see what the daylight brings.

I think there's light at the end of the tunnel today! Supposed to be sunny and in the high 80s. We have a lot of cleanup to do. Sorry that Houston is getting it now. Remember, we will miss this rain in July, August, etc. Whistling

No game is worth risking your life over. Were none of the city officials there or fans watching that there was a slow moving system coming their way with massive amounts of rain that is highly unstable? That kind of mentality baffles me. We had a rescue in Lago last night for three idiots that got in a raging lake with floating debris to go jet skiing. :rolleyes And these kinds of people breed Grumbling

Well, we have lots of clean up on our own today. Nothing bad comparing to so many displaced or damaged. Had to search for goldfish in the garden after bottom small pond filled with mud and overflowed. Saved a chicken from drowning and part of our road has washed away. All in all we have been pretty darn lucky and I am so relieved to have a possible break for two days. I am hoping to see the sun this afternoon!
