The leaves are anyway. But I never planted anything there although we've had to dump pond water in this area a few times.

Thanks, that pointed me in the right direction--it's Geum canadense--another weed.

well I am going to leave it and see what it does for now. It is in full shade though so not sure if it will like that.

It does tolerate shade very well, it usually grows in the woods around here.
