Ha! I don't have enough room between my roses to plant anything but bulbs. I also would not plant anything edible as I spray my roses with systemic fungicide.

Porkpal ...

That's a memory photo of Scamp. He is no longer with me. He had a stroke a couple of months ago and didn't make it.

He did like to pose, but he often lived up to his name.

Smiles,

Really sad when Safeway has a better selection of roses than the big box home improvement stores... Picked up a Jack Frost, Malibu, + Wildfire. That Jack Frost smells INCREDIBLE!!!

Kroger, a big grocery chain in this region, always carries a limited inventory of nursery plants, but really nice ones. When I see roses I make sure to check them out, often some nice varieties.

stupid stupid stupid. Rainbarrels are still illegal in Colorado. May set a "dangerous precedent".

http://www.thedenverchannel.co...

DENVER - Colorado's only-in-the-nation ban on backyard rain barrels is sticking around for another year.

The state Senate moved Tuesday to reject a bill to allow homeowners to use up to two 55-gallon rain barrels. The maneuver was a late-evening vote to delay the bill, meaning it won't make it to the governor's desk before lawmakers conclude work for the year.

The state House previously passed the bill, and it had bipartisan support in the Senate, too. But other Republicans opposed the measure as a dangerous precedent.

Colorado's rain-barrel ban is little known and widely flouted. But the barrels violate Colorado water law, which says that people can use but not keep water that runs on or through their property.

Sue - Makes perfect sense. Most of Colorado's water actually belongs downstream.. Nevada/Arizona/California. So any 'flowing water' has to be able to go unimpeded to the Colorado River so that those places can have their green golf courses and swimming pools. Heaven forbid that we try to grow any crops here .. farmers aren't even allowed to drill on their own property for water. Nor can they pull from the rivers/streams.. none of it belongs to us.

It is a good thing a politician in the Colorado state capitol has such a great working knowledge of each individuals water needs that they are able to determine they know best how to use your water! Those guys are just so smart!

That just stinks! It just occurred to me as kinda funny that pot is legal and rain barrels are not.

Toni, we've gotten 5 inches of rain in the last 12 hours!
Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
Funny you talk about the supermarket roses. Yesterday, I picked up a Julia Child at the local Dillons (Kroger) store. It was only $12.50, and it is full of blossoms! The rack also had First Impression, which I already have. It's a great rose. I am trying to find a place for another one!
We're supposed to get storms all week long. We need every inch of rain we can get. I really didn't believe my rain gauge when it said 4 inches this morning. There were no puddles! All the rain soaked in. The frogs are loving it. They are absolutely noisy!
Lovey dubby

Priorities... and pot's a VERY thirsty plant. Before it became legal, that's how DPD was able to find large grows.. they were monitoring water usage. LED lights don't jack up electric bills like metal halides or CFLs, so they followed the $ trail through Denver Water. And was able to snab quite a few large grows (100+ plants) quickly. But for every one they caught, there were probably 30-40 that they didn't get. When you're driving through Denver on I70, there's a section of town that smells VERY strongly of MJ. I could probably navigate my way around that area just based upon the stench. LOLLL

Mostly noise and wind. Overnight, we gained another half inch of rain, but the lightning sure greened up the lawn!
I keep a bag with chargers, meds, flashlight, snacks, and another bag with dog stuff right by the stairs for when the sirens go off. Everything was on the west side of town last night. Oklahoma City got the brunt of it last night. Again and again, they end up in the storm track. I read somewhere that the worst places only have a probability of 1/10 of a tornado coming within 10 miles of them, but still, it's a bit stressful.
I love hearing thunder at night.
