Tomatoes need to be planted. Spring is here and I love veggie gardening season. What did you buy for this year? Harvesting anything? Lets talk veggies!

Wow Rita!!!!!! Happy planting..... Getting my tomatoes later today or tomorrow morning.
I've been picking Chives, Parsley, Kale that over wintered and Sorrel so far. Won't be long before the radishes, lettuce, spinach, new kale, and swiss chard will be ready for picking. Love my garden.

Still working on the compost heaps, sifting out my Black Gold to fill my planters for the front of the garden and where ever else I decide to place a pot. Still have a few trees to take down as well.

I usually plant eggplants. Well at least I have these past two years. But I have so many tomato plants this year that I didn't even buy any eggplants. I figure after I plant all my tomatoes I will see if I have any room for eggplants.

I did work out in the garden all day planting yesterday but still have so much to plant. And already stiff and sore from all the bending and squatting and such from yesterday.

Got fifteen tomato plants planted, 6 sweet Hungarian peppers, marigold seeds, basil seeds, two more Thai Hot peppers, flipped two 4 X 4 foot compost heaps by way of pitch fork, pulled weeds, loaded the fire ring with the wood from the two dogwoods we took down, watered all the new transplants plus watered all the other things that have been moved around. Snagged the leaves and grass clippings from both my neighbors (they don't use fertilizer). I am beyond stiff and sore. Time for a drink and bed before the alarm clock goes off at 4am. This is my week for doing the culinary competition at my school so it's 12-15 hours day for the rest of the week. (No garden time til maybe Friday if I'm still alive.)

Good luck! A report on your week, when you return to the living, would be nice. I'm all ears!

I bought so many tomato seedlings this year that I don't know if I even have room for eggplants. Usually I put my eggplants in pots but those pots have Determinate tomatoes in them. I did leave plenty of room for summer squash. I hope the squash is good this year.

Eggplant doesn't grow that well for me unless the summer has warm nights.....last summer nights were cool, & I had very few peppers.....never planted any eggplant.....

Same when I plant eggplant. Meant to start it early indoors to see if that helped, but didn't get to it-maybe I will find one at nursery. Last year was not a great year for peppers, I grew a few from seed and they are doing well. We will see what happens once they are in the garden.

You guys having trouble with eggplant, here is what worked for me. Plant one in a pot and then put that put on asphalt or concrete in the sun. They love the warmth.

Oh yes, those nurseries will have lots of eggplant seedlings.

I actually grow veggies each year in pots lined up on my asphalt driveway. I like to do the eggplants that way as they really do well. But I have grown all sorts of veggies in pots, some things did better than others.

This year I have lots of tomatoes in the pots that I had eggplant in last year. I don't really like to do tomatoes in pots as I much prefer them to be planted in ground. But I bought ones made for pots and Determinates so they should do all right there.

I got all my tomato seedlings finished planted today which I am very happy about. Finial tally of tomatoes planted, 100 plants. Yup 100 plants.

I trued Okra in pots, they make dwarf plants and that worked put pretty well.

I have no eggplant or pepper plants as yet because I figured I would concentrate on my tomatoes and get that done.

Also I would like to start my summer squash seeds today. I have many different types of zucchini seeds.

Some are yellow summer squash and some are zucchini. I Like to have more than the common green zucchini that you see at the store.
