Oh my. I have all my veggies in ground and I can see growth from when they were planted. I think they put out quick new growth as it has been unseasonably warm. But I am happy to see them grow.

Yea! I have blooms on my little SunSugar tomato plants. I have 6 plants of SunSugar so should get plenty of cherry tomatoes.

My summer squash seedlings that I grew myself from seed are looking great also. I need them to get slightly larger and I can plant them out.

Humm, that seems late to me. I should think people would want to get out earlier and prep their garden beds for planting.

Picked my first batch of radishes along with kale, lettuce, spinach, sorrel and chives. Nothing beats the first salad of the season. My bush yellow squash, bush zucchini and cucumbers are all up. Potatoes are popping up as well. All the nasturtiums, basil and marigolds I planted from seed have sprouted in the garden. Tomato seedlings have tripled in size from when I planted them. Heavily mulched the whole garden today with grass clippings and ground leaves just in case the weather gets a bit chilly overnight the next few days. Peas have hit the fence and started their climb.

I fenced in my gooseberry plants so I can keep the birds out this year. The deer netting around the entire back yard seems to be keeping out all the local deer and I just might be able to have a bumper crop of raspberries.

Sprinkled another batch of blood meal around the outer edge of the garden which seems to be keeping Hip and Hop the baby bunnies to the lawn only.

I'm so happy with the amount of light that now gets on the garden since we took down some trees. My veggie garden now gets almost 6 hours of sun light.

Still have beans to plant but to exhausted from just maintaining the yard, compost, worm farm, weeding after working an 8 hour shift in my school kitchen that has been hotter than Heck these last few days.

Started laying out the chicken coop and run, putting in the new trellis supports for the concord grapes and post hole digging for the new permanent posts for the deer netting on the north side of the house. Still have two dogwood trees to take down so we can plant out new Nectarine tree.

Wow end of May seems late to me as well. I try my hardest to get everything in the ground as early as possible even if it means keeping the plants covered.

Karen, you sure have accomplished a lot. And that is great that your veggie garden will now have more sunlight since taking down those trees!

Rita I still have tons more to do. Still hoping to get a new raised garden bed started this summer in front of the raspberries where it gets sun all day. To me it's seems such a waste to have so much lawn. My neighbors across the street both just mowed their lawns and I ran over and grabbed 9 bags of grass clipping (neither one use any fertilizer or weed killers). I have a huge earth bandage on the south woods side of yard filled with all the tree clippings that I'm gonna cover with clippings all summer long to help it break down faster as well as keep my yard just a bit higher than my neighbors so we don't have a water issue when it rains. It's kinda like my long term compost heap at the moment. I enjoy doing things the old fashion way. Not buying any soil, fertilizer , mulch etc...... I want my yard completely organic and done with my own two hands like my grandparents did, to me it's my therapy of life. I've also been doing lasagna garden beds around the yard with a few trial plantings and so far so good.

We do, and expressed such to the town last year, and again this year. The people that run the garden, are town officials, and self admittedly are not gardeners. The Master gardener won't make waves. This garden was taken over by town officials last year, the original Garden officers were pushed out. The town's goal is to make garden part of a renewal effort which includes a new transit station. Everything, including the funding, is very political. Once it opens for the season,, it is a good place to be and town provides all needs. Last year, when I had my unexpected surgery, they stepped up and saw that my box was cared for. My home care nurses, Occ. therapists, Phys. therapists, all took turns going down to the garden during their visits, picking produce for me, which was plentiful, and gladly shared.

Tomatoes need to be planted. Spring is here and I love veggie gardening season. What did you buy for this year? Harvesting anything? Lets talk veggies!

I've got carrots, onions and a few dino Kale seeds planted outside. Inside I have sweet and hot peppers ready to go in as well as a few tomato plants. It'll be another 2 weeks before they go out. It's supposed to get into the low 40's here tonight in N.Y.

I bought more tomato plants today so I will have to get them planted tomorrow. I found smaller potted plants of Jaune Flamme, Cosmonaut Volkov, Amish Paste and Black Cherry. Of those four the only one I have grown before is Black Cherry. I loved those Black Cherries last year.

I have all my tomatoes, peppers, marigolds, basil, cucumbers and squash plants covered in plastic hot houses since last night. I'm not taking any chances with the weather. It's suppose to dip down to 38-41 tonight, that's too cold for my liking and don't want to loose any plants. The wind has been fierce today and if it's too cold for my bones then its too cold for the plants. I probably won't take any of the covers off til maybe the weekend.
