Welcome and by all means speak up! I will be more than happy to help start you on your way to full fledged iris addiction! Other folks helped me out when I was just starting out, sent me their extras or something I was looking for because they wanted to. For the most part, over the years I have been able to repay most of them with something that I have either purchased or gathered and shared back with them when I had increases. It all works out in the end, and one day you will be able to help someone else get started... kind of a pay if forward thing with irises.
SPEAK UP, If I have it and you want it, say so!

Absolutely to all of the above!!! If someone has it they will let you know, but first you have to let us all know what you want! Smiling

Muddymitts said:Don't be shy -- a pure waste of time. Don't forget, extra Irises are a by-product of every successful Iris gardener and every one of those gardeners wants to find people who will take those extras. Otherwise, we have to throw them on the compost pile -- and that about kills us. So speak up!!!

I'll take all the extras. Hurray! Do people typically ask in a show-off thread? I'm so new to this forum but I want to have good manners. Hilarious! It would kill me to think of those beautiful Irises ending up in the compost pile, too.

If you want specific varieties just post the list, but of course leave out the newer ones that cost $$$ each! They have not had time to increase anyway. Also be alert to posts that have offers of spreading the excess around to others. The garden lists can help as many people list what they grow. You will have a fairly low cost iris garden in no time. Details are usually taken care of using the mail option on top left of the pages.
Various groups offer sales during the year, some local and some by mail. The Historic Iris Preservation Society has one each summer [historiciris.org] with the list posted already. Members get a 2 week head start in ordering. Just don't buy from a sale that delivers after your cutoff planting date so as to minimize losses over the winter.

Hi Amber...I've been AWOL for a couple weeks.... Welcome! Glad you have joined us! I agree with what the others have said.

Usually when someone is new they don't have anything to trade...so instead they just pay the shipping costs. I will have some to share this summer. I'm working on a list, then I'll offer it to others to look over and make requests. Just keep following the threads because different people mention what's available at different times and on different threads. Smiling
