They are pretty little things. Just starting to grow. I have them in the ground, not a bog.

Sherry, Nice story, I have been surprised myself at the plants that I had previously past by not really noticing. Then to be pleasantly surprised by seeing them in a different way.
Nice plants, I have some of those, African Mask, Caladiums, Mojito and a lot more. I am traveling and my connection isn't the best. Taking way to long to down load pics so that may have to wait. I'm even having trouble getting the posted pics up to a larger size to get a good look at them. I will be back

Hi everyone Hurray! So gald to have found you I mess around with collecting some of these beautiful Aroids I just fell in love a couple of years ago but now I'm fighting the aphids too Taylor and have lost leaves twice trying to deal with them wish I had a camera to take pictures of mine but they really don't look very good for right now time is getting short here and hoping they leaf out more now just sprayed them with an aphid killer and doesn't matter if I use soap and water or the bug killer the leaves still die off :(

The only one that doesn't have the aphids on it is the Wentii var., that thang is so beautiful and huge!

Mine are getting this white mold like on the leaves too not sure if it's because of the spray or they just have mold? I've never had this much trouble with them in the past Crying

You all sure have some nice ones here don't you just love them! I'm new to EE's and hoping to learn more here :)

Here are a few in window boxes and some extras that got planted in whatever pots were handy and by the potting shed area.

Philo. 'Velvet Leaf' is a toxic pest here.... The sap can literally eat flesh...we avoid touching it at all costs. I kill it whenever I see it...but with a strong herbicide. Please be careful of the sap... baaaaad news!

I need some help with an ID. Besides my Alocasia amazonica - Polly or African Mask plant are two other plants I'd like to know what they are. They come back year after year without care. Can anybody help?

First shot if of the group, second a bit of a closeup.

I think I figured out what I have but don't know the hybrid. Chinese Evergreen - Aglaonema is what I have so far.

yes, it's an Aglaonema. They're producing more varieties all the time. I've got about 7 or 8 now. Really easy to grow. Also look a little like Diffenbachia.

How do you distinguish an Aroid from other houseplants?

If it blooms, it's obvious, spathe/spadix. Otherwise, look up the plant in a database that has family info (Wiki is good for that.) If it's from the Aroid family, it's an Aroid.
