I use hosta or fern in combination with dicentra. The dicentra start to look really ragged about the same time that the hosta and fern get to their max.

I do the same with daffodils and hosta. The hosta are coming up as the daffodils are fading. The hosta leaves hide the daffodil leaves, so the daffs continue to do their thing while not being an eye-sore.
