Greene, if you wish to trust what the manufacturer states, the dead animal is not poisonous to our pets, birds, or non-pet animals. Perhaps you need to worry more about farmers, not me. They kill mice and rats by the jillions and always have.

Deep watered again. It seemed too soon but the turf was almost dry. The neighbors' big pine tree roots underneath our lawn do not help one bit! Been in the high 80's for the past 10 days with very, very little rain. They say our area is close to a drought?! Hard to believe when we were flooding early summer! Now people's lawns are dying not from the Sod Web Worms but from not watering. Having an unusually hot October calls for unusual lawn care. It's a battle!

It is necessary to control rodents. One of the main ingredients is the same chemical used as a blood thinner in humans to help prevent strokes. In a dose which would not harm a person it will cause internal bleeding which will cause the animals death.
As with many household chemicals, used as directed and in appropriate places, they can be safely used.

Please note I have 4 cats. Each fall I still have a few mice who try to move in. The cats usually discover them before I do. One is a particularly good mouser. I rescued her from my friends lake home where she had had to fend for herself. She was not their cat and was very thin. She is a very sweet and loving cat.

I guess I haven't experienced a severe enough infestation to feel I need to use poison... my cats do help control the rodent population (as do the fox and coyotes and whatever else that lives in the woods here). We have, however, been known to trap a few mice that were running amok in the house due to one of the cats bringing them inside and then losing interest... Hilarious!

Greene, sorry that all the trees were cut down in the mobile park, that sucks, I felt really bad when we had to cut down an old Jack pine that got diseased, so I can imagine how you felt. Group hug

Taking another day off from garden work today. I did manage to fertilize and water the 108 Peperomia glabella plants that are being propagated but that was the extent of the work for today. This was the "mother" plant which I received from the local April swap.

That was one beautiful plant, Greene. You have a lot of plants to deal with. I certainly understand the work involved.

Thanks for liking the plant; I did not grow it but I will take the compliments.

Depending on how slowly or quickly they grow...the plan is to group about 4 or 5 to a pot so they look attractive and offer them at the local swap either in April or October. If they grow pretty good and if I can keep them alive over the winter I might offer some to be sent in the mail but it's up to the plants to see if that idea will work.

Ok, somebody pinch me. Did Greene say she was taking a day or two off. Rolling on the floor laughing That is so good to hear. I worked to hard too often this summer, and it was nothing compared to your chores.

Hope you had a great great Monday.

That Peperomia looks like a Better Homes and Gardens picture. Amazingly healthy and perfect shape. I cannot grow peps to save my soul. When I just look at one in a store I feel guilty for how I kill them. I bow to you. Nice.

So far, I've been the same way with them, Laurie. We need Greene to give us a few tips on growing them after she gets all those cuttings growing well.

Finally have tomatoes ripening and they're huge! My cucumbers are getting bigger every single day. Can already see a bunch of tiny ones!

So far the only plants I didn't do well with were sugar snap peas & my beautiful Persian Shield. But everything else has been successful! I'm quite content with that! I remember when I started the cucumbers indoors around August & Rosie said they looked leggy & what to do with them. I listened to your advice, because these are those same ones! So, a million thanks to you Rosie! I tip my hat to you.
