Interesting critter. Didn't find any clear information, but it looks as if it is relatively benign?

According to this Bugguide page:

"Adults take nectar of flowers in old-field habitats. Larvae feed on leaves of Ailanthus and paradise trees and other deciduous trees and shrubs."

Beautiful! I was able to photograph one of those last year. The tree the webworm feeds on, the Ailanthus, is considered a pest around here though.
