I love Caladiums and add to my collection each year. I had a problem with the squirrels digging them up this past spring after I planted them, boy did that make me mad. lost some nice bulbs. Sometimes I have one come up in a place where I know I didn't plant it, so must have been relocated by a squirrel.
I find they do much better in pots than directly in the sandy FL ground. I don't necessarily fertilize but some are mixed in with plants that do get fertilizer, like my geranium and plumeria, they do seem to perform the same to me either way.
