The theme for the 2010 show was "Passport to the World," which made for a fascinating jumble of exhibits.

This huge arrangement of lilies was part of an India themed exhibit.

That is gigantic! Interesting that it is so full of stargazer lilies and they don't seem dwarfed. I can't imagine undertaking such a "hugeous" display!

You can see the size relative to the people standing just behind it... :-)

Sorry, got distracted... more photos...

This was a really cool display... hundreds of simple glass vases suspended over the floor, filled with tinted water, each with its own stem of delphinium or whatever...

Rolling on the floor laughing Can't help but thinking that that suspended one would really be rattling if I had gone by cause I could not have resisted tapping it like a wind chime! Now who or how would one ever come up with such a unique idea? I agree with that last one, what is the significance, I just don't think that far outside the "box" or inside in that case.

largest entry in the display of arrangements... must have been at least 8 feet long (hard to keep your sense of perspective in such a big space, where most exhibits are huge)...

Hope you are feeling well enough to be staying up posting??? Gotta keep fit for the upcoming show. I hope to remember to take my camera to HJC.

LOL... it had plenty of height, it was just that long... much mroe dramatic in person than my camera managed to capture!

I figured you'd like the horizontal leaf in this one...

That is such a great use of corkscrew willow. I grow tons of it btw if you need any. I got a bunch at the HJC flower show a few years ago and it rooted and grew substantially very quickly. I have several huge trees. Matter of fact Steve just cut off a large limb hanging over the driveway the other day at least 8" diameter and 20+'. He uses it to make his canes - Canes of Corkscrew

Yes I do like the horizontal, you must have seen a couple of my arrangements and obviously like the extraordinary compared to traditional!

I have a big one in the corner of the yard, does a great job of soaking up the water in what used to be a soggy spot. My mom started it for me from her tree, and now I have one growing bigger in a pot for her (their old tree is failing & will need to come down soon). Mine is big enough now that I can trim branches for arrangements any time I want, but I have not taken off any 20 foot limbs! Hilarious!

WE have a drop off next to our garage and it was originally just awful fill dirt for the garage. WEll I stuck this dang thing in there and it is so huge that it is actually lifting part of the driveway! I have another out back in my sun garden and it is big but nothing compared to the one that is humongous in that awful cruddy fill dirt! Go figure?
