I have a person that has contacted me looking for Alcazar to replace what her father lost. The contractor dug his up and tossed it before he knew it and he is heart broken. Does anyone have some they can spare for postage or a trade from me? I have it but mine is too new to share yet so I am in a pickle.
Thanks guys!

I just got one too but won't be ready till next year. BUT if you don't find one let me know and she can have this one. I'm sure I can get another.

That's a cultivar that I don't have, Lori. Sorry -- sure wish I could send you one.

Oh, someone has it. It will turn up or I will just buy it...where there is a will there is a way you know.
Thank you Pat, but I am not willing to dig up my own so I am for sure not going to take yours...like I said, it will turn up!

Lori, I just bought it at an iris sale and bought it because of it being one of the historical they had. Really no other reason. So let me know, I don't think it has really 'settled' in yet anyway. Smiling

Lori, check with Dee, she had quite a few oldies listed, and had some that were not even on the list. C-mail her and ask. I have it , and last I looked it was "so-so", but I'll try to remember to check closer tomorrow.

That would be awesome Sherry! I only need maybe 3. I just got an email from Dee and her sale is over, she is now charging $8.00 for the historics she has left. That is a little spendy to send to someone I don't know and will never hear from again! I would rather trade for them if I can.

Hi. I'm new to the forum. Do you still need Alcazar. I'm attaching a photo of what I have, which I believe is Alcazar. If you would like a few (trade) I can help.

I posted a pic a couple days ago. I think I have around 2 doz. I just planted them though from dried rhizomes. Some are sprouting as we speak, if serious the lady from Craigslist is posting some again and I can obtain some more... look towards the end of the 'historics' post or I have the pic I posted in my profile somewhere. OR a trade proposal would be just dandy
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

John, that does not look like Alcazar to me. It looks more like the posting from Cuzz. I have some, Enid, but will have to wait until spring to see where they are. I have given most to my iris society sale each year.

Hey there, I got a Alcazar from Mike several years ago. It's a massive plant. I'm sure I can send you some next summer for your friend. The bloom this year was frosted out but it's healthy and has a lot of increases. Just send me your address and I'll put you on the list for next summer. Susan

I just looked up Alcazar. I might have to add it to my want list. I always like historics, but there are some newer ones I like too.

Sorry yadah_tyger, the iris is not Alcazar (I've also ruled out Souvenir De Madame Gaudichau, Lent A Williamson and Indian Hills)
I've matched your 'Alcazar' against my Alcazar. The pattern of the veins just aint the same...sorry, just thought to let you know although the old post is more than a month old.
I cannot fathom a guess for that one Yadah

Thank you for your reply. Thanks for taking the time to try to ID it as well. Appreciate it.

You're Welcome! Yadah _tyger

Alcazar are very common and prolific reproducers over here in NZ.

And having used Alcazar last year for my own personal identification purposes (to cross reference against another neglecta) I've ended up having learnt to recognise Alcazar by the pattern of its veining. See how the 'vein pattern' (for want of a better description) curved out, (inward of the fall) then up the fall, then straight across at the tip of the beard, then curved downwards? That what I was looking at.

I've recently decided whether taking notice of spathes is worthwhile investigating. I think it is because Alcazar have faint reddish blotches on their spathes. Not all have that. Could be a useful thing to consider...but then again, maybe not?

I'm sorry to disappoint you on what you thought you've had Whistling

I hadn't noticed the wire edge on the standards on Alcazar before.. Just looked at my pictures, and there it is.. One more ID tool. The spathes also have yellow that I hadn't noticed either. Thank-you for pointing that out Nicky..
