Let's see your containers. What do you have that is really unique. Please tell us all about your closet of containers.

Now this one is just different, we found this in the mountains and made it into a planter by adding a wood bottom with holes for drainage and finished to weatherproof.

Hi Candee - so this is where you are spending your time. Miss you over at the Cut flowers. I bought a neat "vase" at a thrift store yesterday - will have to post it here. Hope it is starting to warm up a bit in your neck of the woods.

I have been over there Diann just haven't had a much time since I've been doing this. Hope to see you hanging around and posting your lovelies. We had temps in the 60's for 2 days but by the time I get home from work it is already cooling down so I haven't been out much. Did manage to cut back the tall grasses over the weekend so we are headed in the right direction!

Hi Ladies,

Candee, what IS that gnarly thing you found in the mountains? Is it a burl off a tree? Cut off tree branch scarred over? It is completely unique! Would make a great little 'woodland' planter

I know the feeling Annie, getting all this set up and working has been a real challenge, but loads of fun in the process. I have done a lot of laughing since this all began!

We got the heat here I tell you! Lovely coleus - I was pleasantly surprised that I have a few coleus that returned after surviving the winter outside!

Beautiful, - I misstated they aren't coleus that I have they are caladiums that returned! I didn't get any coleus this year. Now what is that little garden with the wire in that lovely stone planter?

Seeing your coleus, Charleen, I suddenly miss them. I used to have an entire spread of coleus under some fruit trees in our first home. Such great colors are available now! I should think on expanding the shade bed or making some containers for shade on the back deck. Finding the time and taking it, are the problem!

Now that little bog garden has got my curiosity up. Do you flood it regularly, like a swamp, or put in special 'mucky' soil? I know nothing about bogs except my gardens were like them much of June-unintentionally.

Love the pond! Here it would have about 40 green tennis balls floating and 4 big black lab legs straddling those squares covering the surface Big Grin

I had to stop those two culprits this morning, they wanted in that pond so very bad, but they knew they better not. Finlly the pup went and got in an old iron bath tub to cool off.
I do add water to my bogs about a couple times a week, it is so dry here now. but they are well worth the extra effort. I made my bogs out of those Black plastic tubs used to mix concrete. Put a hole about 4-5'' up from bottom to let overflow out, In case it does rain. This is my Second year with bogs and I believe I'm addicted. Do you know some EE are bog plants??? Iris, Hibiscus, and thngs I haven't even learedabout yet. Missy is Germ. Shep/Lab and Lucas is Basset/Daushund.

Candee quote: "grate job!" Big Grin I don't know where else to ask, but clicking on your beautiful echi feature of the day photo- what are the fuzzy double pink ones? I've lost all but one little echinacea and would like to add that one. It's great being able to click on the photo and see the flowers enlarged for better appreciation. Nice work!

Charleen, I'll have to check out bog gardening here. It's so dang hard to excavate anything with our rocks, but it could be done and I bet the soggy NW has some terrific candidates for bog planting that would winter over.

You've got a lot of dog sizes and shapes covered don't you!?
