Made these with a few hyacinths, harry lauder and/or quince and daffodils.

Just discovered this thread - those are lovely, Candee.

I bought a used book of ikebana arrangements about 10 years ago with the idea of learning the style - this will give me the incentive to go back to that and try.

Thanks Dianne. I love making them as they don't take many flowers and the simple lines are my favorite. I just made these today, one with dogwood and harry lauder and the other with cytissus and dogwood.

Welcome perennialgirl and thank you.
I am not sure I am qualified to give lessons, but would gladly give you any tips if needed. First, I only use a few items in my Ikebana and they should include some type of wood and stone to keep a natural flow of nature. Hope to see some of your arrangements here.

Candee - My gosh! You have quite the eye for flowering arranging! All your basket arrangements are to die for! (Metaphorically, of course! Rolling on the floor laughing )

Thanks Becky, I do have good luck with them coming together for me. I have a lot of fun making them as well. Good thing I like the Ikebana as this year I got almost no zinnias so have little to work with.

I should really try my hand at Ikebana since I don't usually have too much to work with. I really like the 'simple complexity' of it!

Try YouTube.com and type in ikebana. You'll get lots of tutorials on how to do this.

This is lovely work Candee. Not sure the "work" is the right work, "art" may be a more appropriate appellation. Thanks for showing it.
