Brad great looking seedlings!!!!! Mine don't even come close to yours, can you start a post with what the crosses are? After looking at yours, I'm not worthy of posting mine.
Thanks Everybody !! I have had a lot better spring this year than last we still have had weather related issues at home with a couple late freezes damaging bloom and rot but I am very happy that 50% or so of the seedlings will bloom it is very encouraging to come out and find something fun and different every morning in the seedling rows there should be a lot more opening over the next few days that hopefully have some winners. Here are some more from todays bloom
Debra... Thanks for the laugh's tonight
MaryAnn.. Thank you for the kind words but these are nothing like what's blooming in the Ghio and Keppel gardens but I at least have something fun to work with now and getting a better idea of what plants are good parents it will be cool to see what happens when I mix these all together
Cory.. Do post your pictures I enjoy seeing what plants made what that is part of the fun of this I will start a thread after they all finish to show what bloomed from what cross. I have been surprised with a lot of them the newer plants have such advanced pedigrees that it's impossible to know what you will get from crossing too of them together and I like that it's part of the fun.
This last one was neat I can't remember seeing a plicata with beards this big it really stood out in the row amongst the others
That is one amazing bunch again! and then we come to that last one! Not only the super bright beard, but the brown tips to them gives it a very unique look. Also like the brown in the hafts.
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.
Thanks Everybody !!! it has been a good season it is awesome to come out every morning and find something new outside in the seedling beds. I hope all of you as they are blooming are doing a little pollen daubing it is fun to go through the process and create seeds, get them to germinate, and then watch them bloom. With the advanced pedigree's of today's recent introductions it's impossible to know what you will get some of the crosses I planned years ago are resulting in way different colors and patterns than expected and I have a few Plicata's that popped up the past couple days from non plicata crosses the flowers are not real impressive but was surprised to come out and find them in the row blooming. I am crossing them back to plicatas to see what else pops up from it.
Jane.. These are all 1st year blooms at this point I don't plan on doing anything commercially these are more for my enjoyment besides there are many with pretty faces here in the seedlings but few with the whole package of buds, branching and good increase that would compare to awesome stuff being introduced from Oregon and California but I do enjoy mixing all of there planrts together the results so far are better than expected.

When this thread was started Teresa was asking to see your fanciest iris and before it ended it was all about Brad's gorgeous seedlings. Not Brad's fault, but no one remembered the original reason for the thread. She only had one response with commercially available iris. Think you (I don't have any pictures myself) need to come up with some more fancy varieties. of course I could post others' pictures of some of the ruffled ones I just received.
Ride the Waves. This one was my first ruffled Iris purchase, for which I paid more than I ever expected to pay for a plant, and was entirely due to the influence of a photograph of Brad's in the ATP database.
I have just planted Viking Dancer and Roaring Twenties. Someone else bought Velvet Valentine at our club private sale before my turn. I hope it increases quickly as I will be hot on her trail.
I LOVE the ruffles and lace. These pictures are all breathtaking.
