Winter here in this part of Florida is usually about 3 weeks long in January or February ... sometimes we might get a little cold snap in late December.

The invitation is very tempting, at least until Summer arrives and the heat starts kicking in. And some parts of Florida don't get much summer rains. Cinta when she starts complaining about the unrelenting Florida heat, it will be our chance to get her back. You just wait, Plantlady.

Even here in SC, the humidity is bad, especially along the coastal Charleston area where my parents live. It was especially bad this year. It's the 1st time I've ever gone anywhere with a face cloth always in hand. When I was younger, I could barely breakout in a sweat. Is it global warming or is it the age factor, I wonder?
With me ... it's age! Humidity all along the east coast is awful in the summer time! I grew up in coastal Virginia but I've lived in Florida since I was 19. The humidity never bothered me when I was in my 20's, 30's 40's and even my 50's but now I'm late 60's and every year it seems to get worse; used to be in the summer I could be outside from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. or later without any problem. Nowadays I can only take 20 to 30 minute increments ... I get overheated really easily so I have to be very careful.

When I was working I was in Florida three times a year I know how bad it is in the summer. That humidity is the worst. I could take the 115 degrees in Arizona but Florida humidity I could not take.
I love Winter now that I am not working and do not have o go anywhere,. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea and looking out at the clean white snow falling. It is so pretty. I just hate to have to bring my plants inside.

I love seeing photos showing snowy, wintry landscapes and even though I don't like cold for more than a few minutes, I always wish that I could vacation somewhere in the winter when it's snowing ... there's nothing more peaceful and serene than sitting in front of a cozy fire and watching the snow fall!

Just a quick "foliage admiration" post... These leaves just blow me away! On a plant hanging in kitchen.
The pot from my last post hasn't been moved at all, not even turned. It's above a table where there is another little pot & jars of Coleus cuttings and the Callisia has grown down to the table & around the jars. As clumsy as I am, I don't want to move a thing, I just add water, which is tricky, no drain saucer on the hanging pot. Luckily I've had rain water to use most of the time because there's been no drain age except once when I accidentally poured a few drops too much. This has been wild but I still don't trust myself to try a pot w/o a hole.
