I haven't been taking too many pictures of birds lately; our temp's have been in the mid to upper 90's and it's just too danged hot to spend much time outdoors but I went out on the screened porch yesterday evening and spotted a Heron behind the house. The first photo is a bit fuzzy because the plants on the other side of the deck were getting in the way so I went back through the screened porch to the other deck to try to get a closer shot without startling him:

Although the second picture is much better of the heron, I really like the first one with the shadows and tranquil view.

Both are very nice. Not much picture taking here either. Seems to always be overcast or raining.

The orioles have started bringing their young now to the jelly. By the end of July they will begin their trip south. It all goes too fast anymore.

They are here for a very short time! Usually by the end of the first week of August they are all gone. Now we will get orioles stopping in that are from farther north thru August.

Had a red-belly bring its fledgling this morning! I got some bad photos I will upload later.

I have a pair of Great Horned Owls visiting here. Took these photos a few days ago. In the second one if you look close you can see two of them in the Mesquite tree.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird. I can't take credit for the first photo, my husband took it yesterday evening when he was playing around with my camera ... I took the other two through my kitchen window about noon today.

I got my photos on the computer. These are not wonderful as it was very dark this morning for some of these!

Love the second shot of the hummer as it's feeding and the juvenile Red-bellied WP being fed by it's parent in photo #5 and the juvie alone in photo #6!

Thank you Lin! There would be more if I could leave the suet out for the summer and feed seed. I miss all the non-stop comings and goings we used to have.
