Happy Sunday. Love all the posts and updates. I am equally confused on the skippers. I just created a BAMONA account and I hope they don't get sick of me because I sent a few things in. I

As so happy today found 2 BST cats on fennel at a local nature center so of course I bought them. Caterpillar condo has 10 gulf frit cats, the spice bush chrysalis and now 2 bst cats.

Also saw my first pearl crescent of the season today!

Cinda, those look like one of the Azure butterflies to me. That must have been awesome to see!

Looks like the butterflies are really showing up for everyone! I just released the male Black ST that came out late yesterday. He was raring to go and made a few laps before settling high up in the oak tree. I had another male Black ST come out sometime while I was asleep. He doesn't look ready to fly yet so I'm going to wait until the sun comes out a little more and then release him.

Since this was ID'd as a moth, I thought I would add it on this thread. Smiling

Christine, there are many moths that pretend to be wasps, but the feathery antenna on that one kind of give it away. Also, that is another super cool name for a moth. Skeletonizer! Awesome.

I don't recognize this little one but I've been seeing quite a few of them walking on the cement.

It's like we moved down to South Texas since the "cold front" came in a few days ago...the one that didn't cool us off at all (but gave us higher humidity and didn't give us any more rain)! I've been seeing a Zebra Longwing for a couple of days, but didn't get any chance for a pic until today. Then, a little later....a Julia also! Wow, haven't seen these in a long time! Also, there's skipper caterpillars on my native mallows...looks like Texas Powdered Skipper!

The first of the Giant Swallowtail chrysalises I raised emerged yesterday. My kitty noticed it just before I did and I had to go get the container quick! Darn, it already lost a tail! Today, a second one emerged, also noticed by the sharp-eyed feline as I carried the container outside. Kitty is probably convinced now that this is going to happen every day!

My last photo is probably a wild indigo Duskywing
The second photo I hope is good enough for Bamona , because I have no idea what it is and it is not on the regional checklist for here .. Confused
I saw a Monarch and somebody (gardengus) has been watching for the Snout !!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I did get that my second photo is a Duskywing probably , but I cannot find it still

Jim, it looks like a Duskywing to me, but not one that I know. I really only get two types for the most part where I live.

Cool Snout! I've never seen one before but hope to someday.

I'm going to make a Starbucks run and come back and start the July thread. I need caffeine first. Hilarious!
