I'm new to gardening, and I have some bugs on my peas and over on my milkweed. I'm not sure what they are and what to do about them. I took the best pictures I could but they are very small

I think they are aphids

I thought that at first but all pictures I saw on Internet were orange and black. I'll look into it thank you for your reply

Aphids do come in a large range of colors, everything from pink and yellow to light green as well. I agree with Jennifer that they are aphids. The ones on my milkweeds are usually yellow.

Anyway, the first line of defense for aphids is just to wash them off there with a fine mist from your hose. They're pretty wimpy and most likely won't come back, but if they've laid eggs you may have to spray them with the hose again.

I get aphids on my milkweed all the time. A good squirt with a forceful hose helps.

I also agree they are aphids... lots of different colors of them, and the color can be different depending on what stage of their life they are in.

Agree, those are aphids..milkweeds are such magnets for those. I just do the same, a good hose down, or sometimes if my milkweed is in bloom, I use alcohol/dishwashing liquid swab to gently remove those, doing it before the sun hits the plants. Or, if I can find a ladybug, I move it to the plant with aphids, so it can have a lovely meal.

Careful blasting milkweed with water or insecticidal soap or it will kill Monarch caterpillars....
