Hey Kathy(Jordon) good to see you drop in. Kim glad you mentioned the hot compote. I don't like figs either but just may try a pepper jelly out of them to go over cream cheese. I don't know what kind mine are but they are still green. That is those that are still on the tree. Many of them just dropped off. I think it was just too hot and dry for them. . Actually I think this may be a second crop on the tree. Our spring went straight to the hundreds and no rain. I think the first crop fell off the tree. I don't really pay much attention to it since I don't like them. It is in the middle of one of my flower beds though so I have seen the figs on it. We have had over 35 above 100 degrees. I can't remember that ever happening before. Like the rest of you we have been setting records for daily highs all through July and Aug. It is 83 degrees out right now and it feels cool. Go figure. We finally got a rain yesterday. Yay.

Hello To All ! I am unfamiliar with this site... NEWBIE ! But here is a copy/paste from another post....

Hello To All !

Well - I drove to my FIRST Plant Swap and meet in April ( in ALABAMA - 7 hours away!) and I'm HOOKED!
I REALLY Want to meet some Gardening folks close to home...and from the surrounding area ! (Texas, Ark, Ala, Miss, FL "And Beyond")

I have dmailed JERI11... and we are planning a POT LUCK Gardening Lunch and Plant Auction (FREE) at my home in Baton Rouge, LA for Saturday, September 24th.

PLEASE join in ... we'd love to have you.

First of All... The FOOD ! I don't really care what we all dine on... but would it be neat to have a THEME? (Mexican, Cajun, Texas BBQ, Luau, Italian, or whatever). What do YOU THINK !

Second of All ... The Swap... I'm thinking everyone can bring ONE or TWO Plants to swap. I'll make some Funny Money (Won't cost a thing) and have my hubby host an auction so everyone can get what they MOST want...

Please join in and let me know what your thoughts are ... what you can bring and swap... We will provide more details as we go...

((HUGS)))

So excited !

Mary

Mary,

I would love to attend. I just need details of how to get there. Perhaps a Treemail for that would work? I can pot something up now and it will be grown out nice by then. Thanks! Karen

Thanks Karen!!!! Each member host a monthly meeting about every 2 years. We normally have a speaker at each meeting but this was a real treat!!!! C. C.had a special night last night at LPB where they did a tribute to his work. Did you by chance get to see that?

Hi Jeri,

Thanks for the heads up. I`m watching it right now on the LPB website. I`m kind of stuck inside with the dangerous heat 95 feels like 104. I have to come back in mid morning and wait until a bit later before I can work outside again so I`m making me some tea and watching this show. Wow, this is neat! http://beta.lpb.org/index.php/...

It was wonderful!!! The newspaper lady told me she wants to see what next month will be like. I thought that was kinda funny. Normally the hostess isn't even involved with selecting their speaker but my scheduled speaker cancelled and the lady in charge asked me if I knew anybody. Ashley & I just happened to be taking a photography class with him that night and the next day and he was so nice I asked him and he said he'd check his schedule. All the stars and moon and sun all lined up and it worked out!!! I am very pleased to say.

Wow great treat for your club. Mr Lockwood has done some wonderful works. We have seen some about his life on a special that wasn't specifically about him but had a good tribute to his accomplishments. Lucky you to have taken his clinic and sorry I was unable to attend. Actually I would have loved to have taken part even if it wasn't him. I know you learned some new things. Kudos for scoring such a great speaker.

Thanks Cindy and when I heard about the class I thought of you immediately!!!! I'm so sorry you couldn't make it either. Wed. night the LPB channel did a tribute to him and that was pretty cool.

Hello Marilyn!!! We're glad to have you join our group!!! It's been a little slow due to everyone being in the garden most of their time and too tired to move afterward but will be picking up soon!!!
