It's an Aesculus species, likely Aesculus glabra or Aesculus hippocastanum. I'm not familiar enough with them to be sure of the exact species, but the long points on the end of the leaves would fit Aesculus glabra better than A. hippocastanum.

I agree. Those are the only two shown to grow in Minnesota and as you said the leaf shape fit A. glabra not A. hippocastanum.

Nope, not a sweet gum, yes, I agree some kind of buckeye.
Edit to add:
Probably the Aesculus glabra/Ohio buckeye judging by the numerous spines on the pods.
