I feel like a slacker, Rita Hilarious! How many actual plants do you have? More than one of any variety?

Looks like a great list....several varieties I've not heard of (which doesn't surprise me). Love seeing what everyone is growing.

One of these days we're gonna see Rita on an episode of 'Hoarders' trying to move from room to room between baskets full of maters, canning supplies and trays of started seeds.

Quite the list Rita...do you have a method to your maddness when selecting varieties or do you simply buy a couple of every single type the local nurseries are selling?

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Nope, my basement is a mess but the inside of my house only has the usual amount of clutter.

Well, I bring back my tried and true favorites each year. Then some years I bring back ones from a few years past that I don't do each year. And always I have some new to me varieties. Some years really heavy on the new, other years only a few. But That is how I find new favorites.

I grow mostly hybrids. Not much in the way of heirlooms although I do have a few.

Honestly If I had acreage I woulds have at least 200 tomato plants. I love to grow tomatoes.

Great list, Carolyn. Looks like you go for a variety of colors, which is what I do. I'm so envious of everyone that has space to grow so many tomatoes. It's always a challenge for me to limit my choices to fit my available space.

Funny you mentioned that, Carolyn. I tried to grow some Sweet Ozark Orange, but didn't get any germination. I found an Orange Slice at our MG plant sale, so snapped it up to replace my missing orange tomato LOL. It is a hybrid, but sounded good enough to try.

Got my first plant setting tomatoes--my chocolate cherry has a few baby tomatoes on it Hurray!

If I find Chocolate Cherry locally I would plant it. As I I grow Black Cherry and that is a good one for sure.

Have you had chocolate cherry before? I just wondered about the taste.

This is probably the 3rd time I've grown Chocolate Cherry....we really like the flavor, and it is a really good producer (although most cherry tomatoes are good producers, aren't they?) The only down-side, if any, is that the plants get huge. They usually outgrow my 6' tall tomato cages, and start just crawling along the top of our picket fence. Not a bad problem, overall.

Even our dogs like these....they've learned how to spot the ripe tomatoes, and just go help themselves to the ripe tomatoes as they wish.

That is good to know about the taste. As far as plant size, yup my cherry tomatoes grow huge plants also that go over the fence into my neighbors yard. She doesn't mind one bit.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I recently saw a teeshirt in a catalog that said "It's not hoarding if it's just books"

I think in Rita's case we can translate that to "just tomatoes" !!

Plants getting tall is a a good thing in my world... around mid-season my plants always seem to get hit with some disease (not blight, I don't think; probably verticillium or fusarium wilt), and the taller ones seem to be able to pretty much stay ahead of it.

I know I've pimped this one before, but Djena Lee's Golden Girl is a really nice yellow tomato -- not huge, but about 2-1/2" across and I think it has great flavor and texture.
