I took this photo of Hosta 'Praying Hands' at the Memphis Botanic Garden yesterday. I like it from this angle. They had all of the Hostas in ugly pots stuck in the ground slightly. Is there a reason for this? I always plant mine in the ground.

Nice picture.
It might be so visitors get a better view. You liked it from that angle.
It might be protection from voles.

I have had Praying a Hands for some time and just love it. I tend to go for the odd ball things. I wonder what the significance of that is Confused

Thx for thumb.
Just did a search on. hosta pot voles and guess what. Memphis botanical came up.

www.memphisbotanicgarden.com/thegardens

"Rodents called voles eat the roots of hostas, so they are often grown in containers and then planted into the ground."

Hmmm wonder if I should try that with lilies ?

Thanks for that! I knew there had to be a good reason for that. I thought they were just too lazy to plant them. LOL. It's been a long week. I just didn't like the way the pot was sticking out of the ground. If I was in charge, those pots would be better hidden.

I wonder if anyone has a thread for the strangest Hostas.
