I bought this at the garden show. One of our new members donated a few for the plant sale. He doesn't remember the botanical name, but thinks it "grows real well and reseeds readily." (He shared this after I'd already bought it). Supposed to be low water/low maintenance. I Googled it and searched through our botanical books at the show and at home, but couldn't find it. Before I plant it somewhere and can never get rid of it again, does anyone know what an asparagus lily is? It's in a gallon pot.

No guesses? I'm curious about this plant. Are you still holding it in a container?

Oh yes! I won't plant it until I know what it is.

I briefly spoke to the new member who donated them. He said he couldn't find anyone who could ID it until he offered to give one to a person at a local nursery if he could find a name for it. He did give him the botanical name, but he couldn't remember it. Said he would email me. I will try to reach him tomorrow. Since he's new, I don't have an email address for him.

So I got his e-mail address, sent email, and new member responded:

"I have been looking off and on for 2 days!!
I will have to go back to Paradise on Congress to get the name again.

It takes full sun. I have NEVER watered mine after the first two weeks, and it is about 2 feet around and has produced hundreds of babies. The seeds grow easy, and it also grows babies on the flower stalks.

It will get about that big in one season."

So there you have it! I believe I'll keep it in the same pot for the time being. I think "Paradise on Congress" is his name for The Great Outdoors Nursery. I may run over there tomorrow and see if they know what it is.

Received another email from plant owner. (Possibly because I mentioned I might just put plant in paper bag and set it on fire!). He writes:
