Hello Lisa, welcome to our iris family. Stick around and help us get through the dreary days ahead as we wait for spring bloom.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?

Welcome Lisa!

If I can get my husband to dig them out, we have too many yellow flag pond irises! ( you mentioned
you could use some bog irises).
I see you're in CA too. No freezing worries.

Janwax,
Yes, I would truly love to get my hands on some yellow flag iris! Tell you husband pretty please with sugar on top Drooling
I see your also in California but your in Northern I believe? I am in the high desert of Los Angeles County in California. But I was raised in Los Altos, Ca and then moved to Santa Cruz, Ca. Then lived in central California until we moved to southern California for my husband's job. I see you do pottery? Is that right? Because I have been doing ceramics since I started college in 1991. Just let me know if your hubby wants to jump into your pond Hurray! :hurray: Hurray!
Thank you guys so very much
Lisa Thank You!

Lisa, email (that's treemail) me with your address and I'll send you some for postage.
Hubs says he can do it soon...the pond water levels are still kind of low and
it is a good time to dig the irises.

Careful with those however, More states are banning them as invasive. MA does.

Jan, I just emailed you with info. I am so excited and I can't wait. Now I have to work on replacing all my pond plants my 10 year old killed along with my koi.
Thank You!
Lisa

Irisarian,
I know they can multiple pretty fast but they will be contained in a pond and bog pond (all lined). Thank you Lisa

I didn't know that, Lucy. Like Lisa, mine are in a smallish (30'x40") lined pond. But
it's good to know what's invasive and what's not. These have crowded out most of the
papyrus!

Good as well as they are contained. The new pseudatas (Japanese crossed with the I. pseudacorus ( the yellows) )started to be crossed to fix the problem as they are sterile. The pseudacorus should be watched for seed pods which can float.

@timetravelerboy ~ Welcome! to the Iris Forum! Hurray!

What part of the country do you live in? Tell us a little about yourself.

Most of my irises haven't bloomed yet, as I am also new to the Iris Forum. So mine are not up to size yet for dividing.

welcome timetravelerboy.

yes, it helps to know what garden zone, and approximately what part of the world you might live. the information helps because some irises thrive better in areas than others.🙂

Thanks everyone, for such warm welcoming, i currently live in central texas, zone 8b. Originally from south California. Love all plants, but have a special place in my heard for irises, my goal is to hybridize an iris that i can name in honor to my wonderful mother.
