Patty that is very tempting, thank you for the offer. I have been holding off on acquiring new ones nowadays because of my 65+ seedlings that are over 2 years old that I'm hoping will bloom anytime soon or early next year. My DH keeps wanting me to get rid of some but after taking care of these seedlings really good this year and seeing them take off, I'm not one to give up on them now without seeing their blooms.

Wow! That reminds me I have this seedling that I've been calling Angel Pink because it was originally in a pink pot. If this blooms and it is not pink at all, I will have to rename it.

Interestingly enough, I found this old thread from a different plumeria forum where you were discussing the Orange Blossom with some people.

We don't have a lot of the known plumeria old timers here. It would have been interesting to see what they developed and registered with plumeria society through the years.

What's the best way to work with clippings? Do you put them right in the ground or let them dry out for a few days first? I've not had good luck with cuttings I buy at the shows...I stick em in the ground or pots and they muck up and die on me!

Patty I just realized I have not responded to your question yet. Sorry, I am getting old and has selective comprehension.

I just let the cuttings dry out or callous for a few days. Then I plant them using the black pot (or lately I had been using clay pots) using a 50/50 regular potting soil and perlite. I water it once until the leaves starts to open up or if the soil gets really dry and the cuttings look dehydrated, I would mist the dirt and the soil, usually early morning. The pots are then placed on top of a concrete pad because bottom heat is important. I also tried putting a whole egg in the pot to supposedly help with the rooting process so not really sure it is helping. Then once the plummie has 3 sets of leaves, I just resume regular watering.

By the way, I used to use super thrive too (I think they helped but others said there is no scientific evidence for it) but not lately because it is getting too expensive.

Gigi, thanks for the answers! No need to apologize....I appreciate answers whenever they come!

That egg thing is pretty interesting! I've never heard of that!

I think my problem may be that I'm 'loving' them to death....I stick em in the ground and then water them WELL...every day....for days! (Like other things I stick in the ground)! I'm thinking that's why they just rot away on me?

I don't do Plumeria in pots....I have enough other stuff in pots! My Plumeria go right into the ground! That yellow one is almost as tall as the house...and the white ones line my side fence (and are taller than the fence). Seriously, you should come get some clippings....

Super Thrive...isn't that the vitamin stuff? I just found out about it a year or so ago and now use it for all my orchids. I must say though, I have found quite a variety of price for that little bottle...from $6.95 to 13.95! But of course I don't remember WHERE I saw each price....

THANKS, Gigi!

Wow! I keep trimming mine so mine will never grow as tall as my house. You should take a photo of your plumeria.

Yes with plumeria you can stick them in the ground but don't water until leaves are out.

I will be posting a picture of my seedlings on the plumeria watch and anticipation thread.

A cutting has no way to take up water without roots, so it doesn't need to be watered until it is showing signs of being rooted, usually by growing leaves.

Anyone recognize this one? The person I got it from is in the SoCal plumeria society and he has it marked as Tilley Hughes..but I've looked up that one before and doesn't look like it..I also think I remember him mentioning that there is 3 different varieties of it...

Definitely not Tillie Hughes and I don't recognize it as anything else, particularly. But it's nice!

Mark even with no ID , the color and petals are beautiful! Are the photo colors close to the real color? If it is, maybe you need to check Plumeria Society and if you can't find it registered you can register it yourself. (That is if you have the patience for the process and the paperwork.)

I don't do the registering. But I'm happy to walk you through the paperwork if you need help. I think it would be lovely to name the flower for your adopted niece Thumbs up
