I tried to get some shots of my new Hosta plants
Sagae - This one may get huge

Beach Boy - A twinge of blue to this one I hope

Firn Line - It will get more white as it matures. It is a sport of First Frost
Sorry for the bad picture I will get others/better ones as it matures a bit.

I am hoping they thrive in full shade.

Nice selection. Sagae can get huge. You mentioned full shade........depends on what that means. They like what I call bright shade. Morning sun, evening sun, broken sun. They often are not happy without some sunlight. Hope yours prosper Thumbs up

Thanks Paul.
At best I have dappled shade. I am having discussions with the HOA to get the trees thinned so I can get a bit more sun. I will keep all posted.

Dappled shade is OK. Solid shade from say a building won't work.

@Marilyn, our 'oldest' Sagae hosta are 3'+ in height. It takes a few years for them to get this large, but when they do, it is a sight.

I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you. Thanks Rick, I hope to transplant it from it's pot to "real dirt" next spring. And it can grow all it wants in that time. I would like to hide a back-flow valve with it and maybe a couple more large ones.

I chose it because everyone says it does well in many climates.

Your's is a beauty. Love the bluish tinge. I chose the others to blend with it as well. I had only a NOID before which has done well, but small, in this location. Blinking

Rick, you meant CDsSister (the other Marilyn), as I don't grow Hostas anymore. I see CDsSister (the other Marilyn) has already replied to you. Smiling

I acquired 12 new hostas this year, with 2 more yet to pick up. One from Naylor Creek, four from Green Hill Hostas, and the rest from Savory Gardens. The following pictures were taken soon after planting, so definitely not representative of what I expect in a couple of years!

hida no hana - I had to add this one after seeing the photo Rose posted a few weeks ago. I hope this plant will develop more streaking than it has right now!

Thumb of 2015-06-15/alwaysbehindMN/e8b667
Church Mouse - the little blue one in the back... couldn't be cuter!

Ivory Coast - I've wanted this one for a long time

Rare Breed - looks a little wilted right after planting. A Ron Livingston hybrid... my favorite relatively new hybridizer. I think his best known intro. is 'Red Dragon', absolutely gorgeous!

Tickle Me Pink - I tried to get an angle on this photo so the pink petioles would show.

Thumb of 2015-06-15/alwaysbehindMN/8673b2
Hobby Time - took me hours to dig out the lily-of-the-valley roots so I could plant in this spot... and I will have to remain diligent! This will be a large plant if I can keep it safe!

Wow. I see lots I want to add to my wish list.

I got three new ones. These came from Mary Ann Leisen. I was really surprised when they came. They were in a very long, triangular box. She didn't have to trim them at all.

picture includes 3 of my 2015 additions. 'Edina Heritage', sliced off a mature clump at Savory Gardens, has a scape which is blooming now. It is behind
the large clump of a martagon lily. 'Ivory Coast' is to the right of my feet, and 'Tickle Me Pink' is in front of I.C. I was very happy, having just finished planting
Edina Heritage in that recently cleared area. Cocoa does not look impressed!

Linda,

Sorry but I've been hanging out over at the perennials forum or busy in the gardens! It took my hida no hana several years to look this good! Actually, this is the first year that I've thought it was a good purchase! Mine gets full morning sun but it has some burnt leaves so I may have to move it to a little more shade.

I haven't been buying too many new ones this year. I've replaced a few that I've lost over the years and purchased a few that caught my eye. Mostly I've been planting ones that have been in pots for a while.
When all is said and done, there’s more said than done.
